Oversee a team of maintenance personnel responsible for repairing and maintaining highways, roads, bridges, and associated infrastructure.
Coordinate all maintenance operations, including repairing pavements, patching potholes, controlling roadside vegetation, and installing signage.
Ensure strict adherence to safety regulations and standards during maintenance activities.
Regularly inspect highways and infrastructure to identify maintenance needs and prioritize repairs.
Develop comprehensive maintenance schedules and efficiently allocate resources to ensure timely project completion.
Monitor the quality of work performed by maintenance crews and offer feedback and guidance as necessary.
Collaborate with various departments and agencies, such as engineering, traffic management, and environmental services, to address maintenance issues and concerns.
Maintain accurate records of all maintenance activities, including work orders, equipment usage, and material inventory.
Provide training and mentorship to maintenance staff on proper techniques, safety procedures, and equipment operation.
Respond promptly to emergency situations, including accidents, hazardous spills, or severe weather events, to safeguard the safety and integrity of the highway system.
Supervise subcontracted work on site, ensuring its evaluation and verification.
Manage and verify all repair and replacement work conducted by subcontractors.
Assist in reviewing and approving subcontractor work programs for routine maintenance projects.
Ensure strict compliance with OSHA requirements on site.
Undertake any additional duties, tasks, or responsibilities assigned by superiors.
Requirements
Diploma in Civil Engineering or equivalent
Proven experience working in highway maintenance or a related field, with at least 2 years of supervisory experience.
Strong understanding of safety regulations and standards relevant to highway maintenance.
