Our client, a leading privately owned company established in 1981, has experienced remarkable growth over the last 35 years. They are now a global technology group operating in more than 120 countries with over 2,800 employees. Our client specializes in delivering sophisticated and highly innovative products and services to the oil and gas industry, as well as other engineering sectors. For their Asia Pacific HQ office in Malaysia, they are looking to recruit a Tax Specialist who will provide leadership, technical and tax support for the companies in the Asia Pacific and reporting to Head of Tax, Asia Pacific and Middle East regions. TAX SPECIALIST APAC Responsibilities : Offer comprehensive tax advice (direct and indirect) to key stakeholders in the Region, ensuring consistent and effective tax risk management. Optimize tax efficiency within Asia Pacific region\'s companies, adhering to tax laws and regulations. Coordinate with Finance Team and external service providers for timely and accurate filing of corporate tax, VAT, SST, GST returns, etc. Oversee internal tax provision process and deferred tax calculation. Collaborate with tax authorities alongside the Head of Tax and/or Group Tax for any inquiries. Serve as the expert contact for all tax matters and provide support for local and regional taxation. Regularly review and support Transfer Pricing documentation. Review internal tax processes prepared by the Finance team and stay proactive on tax and statutory updates, offering recommendations for AP VP Collaboration and Head of Tax, Asia Pacific, and Middle East regions. Requirements: Degree in Accounting/Taxation or equivalent professional qualification. Proficiency in English, Bahasa Malaysia, and Mandarin essential for regular liaising with China Finance team & authorities. Minimum 8 years\' experience in tax firms and MNCs. Strong grasp of international tax laws, adept at research and technical writing, ideally with Asia Jurisdiction familiarity. Direct experience in indirect tax (e.g., GST/VAT/SST/Customs duties). Proven ability to apply tax expertise to resolve complex commercial tax issues. Takes personal accountability for performance, meets set expectations. Proficient in MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint; ERP system competency (SAP required). Possesses financial analytical skills, results-driven, and a quick learner. Proactive, self-motivated, independent, with excellent prioritization and problem-solving skills. Focuses on developing communication and relationship-building skills with stakeholders and teams. Strong team player with problem-solving abilities, a self-starter, and hands-on. Willingness to travel when required.
