Job Description

Manage a team of chemists in the development of rubber product formulations, ensure they meet customer requirements in terms of material performance, regulatory compliance, safety, quality, and process efficiency.

Operational Management

• Collaborate with multiple plant locations to develop and enhance rubber formulations, ensuring that products meet specifications and customer demands.
• Provide support to various plant locations in resolving process issues, conducting root cause investigations.
• Work closely with the Purchasing team to source raw materials, aiming for cost savings and process and quality improvements.
• Establish laboratory protocols and manage related documentation to uphold company quality, environmental, safety, and RBA system standards.
• Identify the need for testing facilities/equipment, define required specifications, oversee sourcing, and participate in CAPEX planning.
• Aid the Manager in responding to sales inquiries, tracking raw material availability with Purchasing, and monitoring project statuses with Engineering as needed or in their absence.
• Mentor, train, and enhance the material and technical knowledge of Chemists and Technical Teams at various locations to improve their performance.
• Prepare performance reports for presentation to senior management.
• Maintain readiness to travel at any time to address unforeseen issues at other plants within the organization.

Financial & Cost Management

• Introduce and assess alternative or more cost-effective rubber formulations to achieve cost-saving objectives.
• Develop rubber formulations designed to enhance productivity and reduce material wastage.

• Proficient in teamwork, with keen attention to detail and the capacity to effectively prioritize and manage multiple projects, even under tight deadlines.
• Demonstrates a robust understanding of rubber formulation and possesses hands-on experience in operating laboratory roll mills, conducting mechanical testing on rubber materials, and interpreting test results.
• Exhibits technical expertise in collaborating with Manufacturing, Engineering, and Quality teams across various locations to advance rubber formulation for medical, healthcare, and lifestyle products.
• Capable of managing multiple projects to support WCM (World Class Manufacturing) initiatives, with the goal of minimizing TIMWOOD (waste) and enhancing overall work efficiency.
• Possesses strong organizational skills, enabling the effective management and utilization of extensive data for formulation development, troubleshooting processes, and setting process parameters.
• Displays exceptional decision-making and problem-solving abilities, especially in high-stress situations.
• Proficient in generating diverse reports and presentations that showcase regional performance.
