Professional, Full Time (Contract)

We are seeking to hire a Technical Officer to provide technical assistance to aquaculture and seafood areas on the day to day operations. The incumbent will also provide teaching support and technical assistance to research projects within the faculty of engineering and science.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the preparation and manufacturing of fish feeds.
  • Responsible to do maintenance of research facility including tank cleaning.
  • Prepare equipment and conduct activities for fish experiments (live stock feeding, fish handling and fish subsampling).
  • Collect and report accurate and updated fish experiment data (water quality, growth data).
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual operation reports required by Faculty/University Management.
  • Responsible to implement cost and inventory operation policies/procedures.
  • Assist in any other duties as required to support the Sustainable Aquaculture Flagship.
Selection Criteria:
  • Minimum, a bachelor degree in aquaculture or related field.
  • At least one (1) year practical experience in aquaculture research/farming or equivalent as a laboratory technician in any biology lab.
  • Strong knowledge of aquaculture and familiar with current developments in the area of aquaculture;
  • Ability to interact and communicate (oral and written) effectively and professionally with staff and students at all levels.
  • Ability to exercise a degree of analytical thinking and in-depth investigation of processes.
  • Ability to work independently in some activities and as part of a team.
  • Ability to work under pressure and at odd hours such as weekends and public holidays to meet the research & development demand.
Desirable:
  • Familiar with freshwater and seawater aquaculture farming, farmed fish, micro-algae and Artemia life cycles, health and growth.
  • Familiar with Microsoft Office or related documentation tools.
  • Familiar with the academic research and aquaculture farming environment.\xef\xbb\xbf
