Role-specific: We have a very exciting opportunity in our newly created Global Operations Centre (GOC) in Kuala Lumpur Malaysia. Access is organised on a divisional basis, where each division has its leadership team representing functions such as Development, Product Management, Sales, Marketing, Finance and Services. Based in our GOC, this role will be part of our APAC Division\'s Products and Engineering team. As a Squad Leader in this group, you will lead a squad of up to 8 engineers and quality assurance people to deliver on our vision and product growth strategy. You will contribute to the squad\'s people and technical leadership as well as drive the delivery of features and capability for the squad\'s product domain. Our aim is to be a global leader in software solutions and building a delivery centre in Malaysia is key to this objective. About You: You are a skilled and enthusiastic senior engineer, who wants to take leadership of a squad working on a variety of products and technologies. You take pride in your work and the work of your team, delivering quality software that will make a difference to our customers. Day-to-day, you will: Lead an Agile (Scrum) engineering squad, collaborating with product owners, other squad leads, and development manager, delivering high quality software focussed on delivering our product roadmap and the team results. Support and mentor team members in their duties, training, and personal growth driving high performance and supporting the squad to upskill and achieve their potential. Proactively discuss performance against role responsibilities, competencies and objectives and proactively set any required remedial courses of action - which is then monitored and managed with the individual. Collaborate and be pragmatic. Able to communicate with, advise and guide all stakeholders in various departments at various levels, making recommendations based on risk, commercial factors, technical approach and strategic objectives. Provide technical leadership, guidance, and direction to the squad Write robust, efficient, secure and testable code that is easy to maintain and debug Identifying security and performance issues, and provide solutions to these problems Own the Agile sprint ceremonies and encourage the squad\'s engagement in these Support and mentor junior team members in their duties and training Actively contribute to requirement ideation and progressive elaboration, and take responsibility for understanding scope, risk and complexity of changes from inception through to delivery. Ensure the squad adopts and develops sound DevOps practices and tooling Make risk-based decisions, using information such as likelihood of failure, customer usage, work-arounds to manage risks within deliverables. Manage delivery and operational risks by ensuring active controls are in place to avoid issues. Actively promote and take ownership of software quality centred activities including code reviews, majority unit test coverage, functional testing by developers, quality automation, optimal running of regression periods and pro-active risk management. Collect and distribute key metrics to communicate progress, risks, quality stats and engineering areas for iterations and releases. Skills and Experience: Experience with leading a small Agile squad, driving technical excellence throughout the engineering process, and taking accountability for the deliverables of the squad Experience with people management models for the squad, including regular team assessments and performance management Experience in functional domains such as HR systems, Payroll, ERP or Accountant systems would is preferred Experience with measuring Agile Product Flow and delivery performance (Burndown etc.) Experience with Quality Engineering frameworks and modern quality methods (TDD & BDD) Experience with advising and guidance of stakeholders in various departments at various levels, making recommendations based on risk, commercial factors, technical approach and strategic objectives Strong personality and communication skills to ensure that your ideas are heard and understood Experience with being a full stack engineer is preferred Experience with Angular or React in building dynamic Single Page Applications (SPA) Strong understanding of popular software testing patterns and experience with TDD and BDD Have a good understanding of various software API patterns and techniques. Strong knowledge in C++, C# and or JavaScript Having experience with Typescript & GraphQL APIs is a bonus Have sound knowledge of database design and build, preferably with Microsoft SQL Server. Experience working with public cloud infrastructure (AWS, Azure) is a plus Some experience with serverless applications and microservices is a plus.
