Job Description

Scope:

This position involves in providing a prompt and efficient maintenance, repair and new tooling service.

Key Job Authority:

1. Authority to makes or improves different types of tools to enable the production processes to be as efficient as possible. This may include jigs, fixtures, clamps or molds to obtain a more robust consistently produced part that meets the specification of the customer.

Key Job Accountability

1. Responsible for the repair, maintenance and improvement to all tooling dies, jigs, fixtures and fittings for press tools in line with production and customer requirements to support business objectives

2. Responsible to provide a "hands-on" leadership resource to support the management of the tool room staff and activities and support with training and mentoring others as and when required.

3. Responsible for multiple highly complex major projects requiring innovative original solutions where results are key to successful completion of major projects.

4. Responsible for making precision tools (such as jigs, molds and dies), special guides and holding devices, which are then used in the manufacturing process to make products.

Job Functions

1. Repair and maintain press tools, die repairs

2. Routine servicing and regrinding of tools

3. Manufacture new tooling and ancillary spares

4. Attend press breakdowns, identify fault and problem solve at the press with minimal downtime to aid production

5. Estimate length of time required to complete a job and likely consequences of failure to complete work within required timescales

6. Identify and escalate any activity that has the potential to cause harm or damage

7. Report breakdown root causes, equipment faults and concerns to management

8. Ensure all work is undertaken to a high-quality standard and adheres to all quality standard regulations

9. Support new project tooling from commissioning stages through to start of production

10. Manufacture new tooling and ancillary spares to support production activity and customer deadlines

11. Keep up with current and developing manufacturing and engineering trends regarding tool making

12. Conduct test runs with completed tools or dies to ensure that parts meet specifications; make adjustments as necessary.

13. Study blueprints, sketches, models, or specifications to plan sequences of operations for fabricating tools, dies, or assemblies.

14. Verify dimensions, alignments, and clearances of finished parts for conformance to specifications, using measuring instruments such as calipers, gauge blocks, micrometers, and dial indicators.

15. Design jigs, fixtures, and templates for use as work aids in the fabrication of parts or products.

Education/Training/Experience:

1. Possess a Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.

2. Possess at least ten (10) years' of work experience in the field of tool making.

3. Hands-on experience in basic design in a mechanical -related industry.

4. Hands-on experience in manufacturing within a mechanical -related industry.

5. Work experience in the mechanical component industry (machining, plastic, etc.)

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

1. Good knowledge in drawing and process interpretation.

2. Must be able to attend to press breakdowns and identify causes and problem solve at the press to ensure minimal downtime and repair in the workshop promptly and efficiently when not possible to fix at the press

Travelling Requirements

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: RM4,000.00 - RM7,000.00 per month
