Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Toolmaker to support our blow molding and injection molding operations. This role is responsible for mold repair, preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and mold enhancements, specifically modifying existing molds to support different sizes or variants of the same model using interchangeable inserts only (cores, cavities, sleeves, neck rings, etc.).

The ideal candidate has strong hands-on tooling skills, a solid understanding of plastic molding processes, and the ability to improve mold performance without changing the main mold base.

Key Responsibilities

Mold Repair & Preventive Maintenance

Perform repair, servicing, and preventive maintenance of blow molding and injection molding molds Identify and resolve mold-related issues such as flash, sticking parts, deformation, short shots, uneven wall thickness, or poor surface finish Inspect molds for wear, corrosion, cracks, misalignment, and cooling inefficiency Replace or refurbish worn components such as cores, cavities, pins, bushings, and inserts
Mold Modification & Enhancement (Insert-Based)

Modify existing molds to accommodate different product sizes or designs using inserts only Design, machine, fit, and fine-tune:
- Core inserts

- Cavity inserts

- Neck ring inserts (for blow molds)

- Sleeve or bottom inserts

Ensure proper alignment, sealing, venting, and cooling of inserts Improve mold performance, consistency, and cycle time through insert optimization
Machining & Toolroom Work

Operate conventional and/or CNC machines (lathe, milling, grinding, EDM if applicable) Perform precision fitting, polishing, welding, and assembly of mold components Manufacture spare inserts and replacement mold parts as required
Production & Technical Support

Support production during mold setup, trial runs, and troubleshooting Work closely with process technicians to fine-tune molds and resolve tooling-related defects Assist with new mold trials, insert changeovers, and first-article approvals Maintain documentation for mold maintenance, insert changes, and modifications
Safety & Housekeeping

Follow all safety procedures when handling molds and operating machines Maintain cleanliness, organization, and proper storage of inserts and tooling Ensure tools and measuring instruments are in good working condition
Requirements & Qualifications

Technical Skills

Strong experience with blow molding and/or injection molding molds Solid understanding of insert-based mold design and tolerance control Ability to read and interpret mold drawings and technical specifications Skilled in precision machining, fitting, and polishing Experience modifying molds without changing the mold base
Experience & Education

Minimum 3-5 years experience as a Toolmaker in plastic molding Technical certificate, diploma, or equivalent practical experience in tooling or machining
Personal Attributes

Strong problem-solving and root-cause analysis skills Able to work independently with minimal supervision Detail-oriented with a strong quality mindset Good teamwork and communication skills Willing to support urgent mold breakdowns when required
Added Advantage

Experience with HDPE, LDPE, PP materials Familiarity with bottle, container, cap, or preform molds Knowledge of cycle-time and material optimization through insert design
Job Type: Full-time

Pay: RM3,000.00 - RM6,000.00 per month
