Malaysia Trade Compliance Specialist

Texas Instruments (TI) is looking for a detail and service minded individual to join our Worldwide Procurement & Logistics team as a Malaysia Trade Compliance Specialist. As a Trade Compliance Specialist at TI you will provide import/export administration and control to ensure compliance with government rules and regulations including international trade.

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Ensuring complete compliance with Export/Import laws in the context of TI operations in Malaysia, including overseeing, preparation and submission of documentation, obtaining of requisite licenses/registrations, maintenance of statutory records etc.
  • Interfacing with:
    • Key Malaysia government agencies, such as The Royal Malaysian Customs Department (RMC), Zone Authority, MITI, MIDA, and other relevant authorities to support the business growth.
    • Leadership role in growing the relationship between TI and key officials, influencing existing government processes for ease of business/improved cycle time, resolving occasional disputes, etc.
    • Working with different multiple internal/external stakeholders to effectively drive compliance with US and country regulations.
    • Active participation in Asia Trade Compliance meetings
  • Trade Compliance:
    • Functioning as the first line of contact for any Trade Compliance questions / concerns / etc. for both internal and external stakeholders
    • Actively enforce compliance by TI personnel, contractors, suppliers and distributors with Export/Import activities of US including but not limited to the U.S. Export Administration, U.S. Department of Commerce and ITAR and and Malaysia Strategic Trade Act 2010 and import regulations
    • Maintain documentation of policies, procedures, and processes for site Export / Import operations, including the Compliance Control Program (CCP) / Internal Compliance Program (ICP)
    • Resolving business problems pertaining to customs regulations and acting as liaise with customs authorities, as needed
    • Conducting regular TI Malaysia based audits / risk assessments to ensure processes, procedures & operations are in compliance.
    • Conducting awareness training to ensure that internal/external customers understand and follow the policies and regulations
    • Administer the Site Visitor Program, Technology Control Program, Customer onboarding and supplier assessment
    • Responsible for obtaining local government licensing and timely reporting


Minimum Requirements:
  • Min 3-5 years\xe2\x80\x99 experience in export/import compliance and trade control
  • Sound knowledge and experience with Customs Act, Free Zone Act, Malaysia Strategic Trade Act 2010 regulations and application of regulations are preferred.
  • Knowledge of US Export Administration Regulations is an added advantage.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s degree in Supply Chain Management or International Trade or related field
  • High level of integrity and ethics at work. Ability to learn government regulations and implement changes

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel and PowerPoint) and familiarity with SAP GTS application.

Special Consideration

  • A high degree of Proper care has to be taken to ensure that the discharge of all job functions is always fully compliant with the provisions of the US Foreign Corrupt Practices Act. Only persons with a high degree of personal integrity and a proper understanding of such issues would to be considered for the position.

Work Location:

  • Based in Texas Instruments Ulu Kelang, Malaysia
  • May require travel to other parts of Asia and to the US.
