Unix System Administrator

Position Description:

Scope of work:

This role is to provide Unix system support and administration services to our client. Work includes administering the system, ensure operability of the system, handling of incoming issues or requests from users, supporting the development of new technical solutions and improving the current services.

This role requires installation and configuration of Unix system, diagnosis of system faults, monitor system performance, maintain system security and solving technical problems, either over the phone or email communication.

The candidate is expected to work on shifts/weekends/public holidays.

Your future duties and responsibilities:

Responsibilities include:

• Comply with security policies and procedures of our client.
• Responsive to the issues and ensure SLA is met.
• Professional interaction with stakeholders.
• Ensure services delivered with quality.
• Foster knowledge sharing with team members.
• Maintain support documentation.

Required qualifications to be successful in this role:

Experience and Qualification:

• Degree in Computer Science or Information Technology discipline.
• Professional certification/Formal training on Unix System Administration.
• At least 3-5 years of working experience as Unix System Administrator.
• Preferred exposure in any of the following areas:
• service ticket handling / incident management
• supporting mission critical transaction system

o understanding of payment gateway

• Must be able to work on shift including weekends/public holidays.

Technical Skills: -

• Knowledge in Unix/Linux operating systems, storage environments, file systems and network protocols.
• Familiar with Unix/Linux shell scripting and system tools.
• Programming Language (Java, JavaScript, JQuery, HTML, XML, JSON, Groovy).
• SQL commands and familiar with ORACLE database would be value added.
• Good understanding of Unix & Networking principles.
