Role Description:

This is an on-site role for a farm assistant in an indoor or outdoor hydroponic farm setting. A Farm Assistant is responsible for assisting with various daily farm routines, including plant care, harvesting and packaging, cleaning and maintenance, and ensuring quality standards are met. They may also assist with production planning, inventory, and other work-related errands. This role also involves learning about different hydroponic systems and ensuring optimal growing conditions. You will gain hands-on experience in smart farming techniques and contribute to the production of high-quality produce.

Responsibilities:

Planting:

Assist with planting seeds, transplanting, and established plants in controlled environments.

Farm Maintenance:

Maintaining the temperature, humidity, light, and nutrient solutions within the farm to optimize plant growth.

Plant care:

Monitor plant health, address any issues (e.g., pests, diseases), and ensure proper watering practices. Implementing integrated pest management (IPM) strategies to control pests and diseases in a controlled environment.

Harvesting and Packing:

Assist with harvesting crops, cleaning, packing and delivering them for distribution or sale.

Equipment Maintenance:

Assist with maintaining farm equipment, tools, and supplies.

Quality Control:

Ensure quality standards are met during all farm and harvesting practices, including maintenance of the farm.

Cleaning and Sanitation:

Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of the indoor farm environment, including sweeping floors and wiping down equipment.

Record Keeping:

Assist with maintaining accurate records of plant growth, harvesting, and other relevant information.

Training and Supervision:

May be involved in training new farm workers and supervising interns, says the provided job description.

Requirements:

Physical Stamina: Farm work can be physically demanding, requiring the ability to lift heavy objects, stand for long hours, climb ladders, and perform tasks in various weather conditions. Required Skills and Qualifications:

Basic knowledge of plant science and agriculture Ability to follow instructions and work as part of a team Basic computer skills for record keeping Physical ability to perform repetitive tasks and lift heavy objects Ability to learn new methods and technologies related to indoor farming Previous experience in agriculture, horticulture, or a related field is a plus

Pay: From RM2,000.00 per month
