The primary objective of this role is to execute comprehensive validation plans on new silicon products, with a significant focus on power, thermal, and performance characterization. The ideal candidate will be hands-on in the lab, adept at debugging complex hardware issues, and will play a key role in ensuring the quality and performance of our silicon before product launch.
Key Responsibilities
Post-Silicon Validation Execution: Execute detailed test plans for functional, power, and thermal validation on pre-production silicon and platform-level hardware.
Power and Thermal Analysis using scope or PVT equipment's.
Test Development: Develop, debug, and execute automated and manual test scripts (using Python, Perl, C/C++) for validation purposes.
Hardware Debugging: Perform root-cause analysis of failures, anomalies, and performance issues discovered during validation. Utilize lab equipment (oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, thermal chambers, power analyzers) to isolate problems to the silicon, platform, or system level.
Data Analysis & Reporting: Collect, analyze, and document test results meticulously. Create clear and concise reports to communicate findings, bugs, and potential risks to the design and architecture teams.
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with architecture, design, pre-silicon validation, and firmware teams to triage issues and verify fixes.
Continuous Improvement: Contribute to the improvement of validation methodologies, test infrastructures, and lab capabilities.
Required Skills & Qualifications
Experience: 4+ years of hands-on experience in post-silicon validation.
Technical Expertise:
Proven experience in silicon power validation and/or thermal validation methodologies.
Strong understanding of computer architecture.
Proficiency with lab equipment: oscilloscopes, power supplies, multimeters, thermal probes, and thermal chambers.
Programming/Scripting: Strong scripting skills for test automation (Python is highly preferred; Perl, C/C++, or Shell are a plus).
Debugging: Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with a proven ability to perform hardware-level debug.
