Job Description


Key Responsibilities Co-ordinate with business and functional lines in executing the tools and processes, i.e. identify, assess, review operational risks and controls through Risk Control Self-Assessment, Key Control Testing, Scenario Analysis exercise, incident investigation and reporting, other relevant assessment, including third-party risk, shariah non-compliance risk, climate risk, etc. Enhance the management and monitor the third-party risk, especially the main service providers. Work together with the relevant departments to ensure the relevant requirements pertaining to third party risk management imposed by the Regulatory and Head Office are properly complied with. Identify and assess potential risk, investigate loss incidents, recommend new or enhancement control measures. Monitor the types of losses (actual, potential, near miss), KRI trends, limit breaches to ensure they are within approved appetites and highlight to Head ORM and CRO. Reviewing relevant aspects of operational risks for initiatives like new processes, projects, system enhancements, new products or services, engagement of new service providers, etc. Ensuring additional or new internal controls are implemented and updated into the business and functional lines procedure manuals, this includes main service providers. Validate, evaluate and constructive challenge business and functional lines risk ratings and control effectiveness within SMBCMY and main service providers, to ensure high integrity of assessment. Perform analysis and reporting, including to RMC, BRMC, Regional and Regulators. Proactively escalate major risks and potential issues with control measures in a timely manner. Conduct training and awareness briefings to Heads of Department and Business Control Officers. Ensure appropriate disclosure of confidential information to the relevant parties in accordance with regulatory requirements on managing such confidential information. Job Requirements Degree or professional qualification in business, economics, accountancy, risk management or related discipline. Approximately 10 years of banking experience, which covers business and operational aspects of core banking functions, of which includes 5 years in the ORM or other 2nd line of defense function. Have sound knowledge in the regulatory requirements pertaining to outsourcing and third party risk management. IT knowledge is an added advantage.
