To lead and supervise the estate's workshop operations, ensuring that all vehicles, machinery, and equipment are properly maintained, repaired, and tracked. The Workshop Supervisor will manage the maintenance team, plan preventive and corrective maintenance, oversee spare parts and inventory, and ensure smooth coordination with estate operations.
Duties, Responsibility and Accountability:
Supervision & Team Management:
Supervise daily activities of mechanics, fitters, welders, and workshop helpers.
Allocate tasks, monitor progress, and ensure all jobs are completed safely and on time.
Conduct daily toolbox meetings and enforce safety and discipline within the workshop.
Maintenance Planning & Coordination:
Implement preventive maintenance schedules for tractors, harvesters, vehicles, gensets, and other estate machinery.
Coordinate corrective maintenance and repair works in a timely manner to minimize downtime.
Work closely with estate operations to prioritize urgent repair jobs.
Maintain service history records for all machinery, vehicles, and equipment.
Records & Reporting:
Maintain accurate workshop logbooks, job cards, and service reports.
Track downtime, repair costs, and spare parts usage for management review.
Submit monthly reports on workshop activities, asset conditions, and maintenance schedules.
Inventory & Procurement:
Manage spare parts store and ensure availability of critical consumables and components.
Monitor stock levels, maintain inventory records, and conduct periodic stock audits.
Raise purchase requisitions for spare parts, tools, lubricants, and workshop supplies.
Ensure cost-effective procurement and prevent wastage of materials.
Asset & Equipment Management:
Maintain an updated asset register for all machinery, vehicles, and major workshop tools.
Monitor condition, utilization, and lifecycle of estate machinery and vehicles.
Plan for replacement or overhaul of equipment when necessary.
Ensure proper storage and handling of equipment, tools, and spare parts.
Education and Experience:
Diploma / Certificate in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive, Plantation Machinery, or related field.
SPM with strong technical background and relevant workshop experience may be considered.
Minimum 3-5 years' experience in workshop supervision, preferably in plantation, heavy machinery, or automotive industries.
Proven experience in managing maintenance teams and workshop operations.
Skills & Knowledge:
Strong technical knowledge of vehicles, heavy machinery, tractors, gensets, and agricultural equipment.
Good leadership and team management skills.
Proficiency in record-keeping and inventory management.
Ability to plan, prioritize, and troubleshoot technical issues effectively.
Basic computer literacy (MS Excel, Word, Maintenance Systems).
Other Requirement :
Willing to work and reside in estate environment.
Strong communication and coordination skills.
Safety-conscious and disciplined in enforcing workshop standards.
