The aerospace Engineer - Quality is responsible to ensure that aerospace components, systems and manufacturing processes meet stringent quality, reliability and regulatory standards. The role works closely with engineering, production, suppliers and customers to implement robust quality controls, resolve nonconformities and maintain compliance with aerospace certifications and requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop, implement, and maintain quality assurance processes in accordance with AS9100, NADCAP, and customer-specific aerospace standards.
Conduct First Article Inspections (FAI) as per AS9102 requirements and support product qualification activities.
Review engineering drawings, specifications, and design changes to ensure compliance and manufacturability.
Lead root cause analysis and implement corrective and preventive actions (RCCA / CAPA) using methods such as 8D, Fishbone, and 5-Why.
Perform process audits, product audits and system audits to ensure adherence to quality standards.
Support supplier qualification, audits, and incoming quality control for aerospace materials and components.
Develop and maintain inspection plans, control plans, and quality documentation.
Monitor process capability and quality trends using statistical tools (SPC, MSA, FMEA).
Oversee non-conformance management, including MRB (Material Review Board) activities and disposition.
Work cross-functionally to resolve quality issues affecting production, testing and customer deliveries.
Support certification efforts, including regulatory and customer audits.
Prepare technical reports, quality metrics and improvement plans for management reviews.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in aerospace engineering, Mechanical Engineering or related field
Experience in aerospace quality, manufacturing quality or highly regulated industries (aviation, defense, automotice, space)
Strong understanding of aerospace materials, processes, GD&T, and quality standards
Proficiency in CAD/CAM tools and manufacturing simulation software
Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, APQP and continuous improvement methodologies
Strong problem solving, analytical and communication skills
Preferred Skills:
Experience with NADCAP special processes (heat treat, welding, NDT, coatings, composites).
Proficiency with CMM programming, metrology equipment, and digital inspection tools.
Experience handling customer quality escalations and compliance requirements.
Ability to lead cross-function teams and manage multiple tasks in fast-paced environment.
