We are currently seeking an experienced professional to join this team in the role of Assistant Legal Counsel. Responsibilities: . The jobholder assists the General Counsel MYH LGA, the AGC, the Senior Legal Counsel and Legal Counsel in the WPB business and other functions to manage legal risk across MYH in accordance with established policies and procedures. The diversity of HSBC\'s business, its geographic spread and the constant changes internally and in the external legal and regulatory environment means the diversity of matters which the jobholder is required to manage and advise on is very wide . The role requires an understanding of the structure of the HSBC Group and its culture and the ability to handle increasingly complex legal issues . The jobholder must also establish close mutually supportive working relationships with other members of the MYH Legal team and the Global Legal Function . Works under the supervision of the AGC, but will work independently on routine matters. . Demonstrate leadership on Regulatory & Compliance matters. Maintain awareness of operational risk (and specifically, legal risk) and minimize the likelihood of it occurring including its identification, assessment, mitigation and control, loss identification and reporting in accordance with Group Operations FIM . . Maintain and observe HSBC internal control standards, implement and observe Group Compliance Policy, including the timely implementation of recommendations made by internal/external auditors and external regulators.Foster a compliance culture and implement Group Compliance Policy by managing compliance risk in liaison with Regulatory Compliance and the Financial Crime Compliance functions. . Supporting the Wealth and Personal Banking business (WPB) ofHSBC Bank Malaysia Berhad and HSBC Amanah Malaysia Berhad and HSBC group of companies in Malaysia also include Global Functions. Requirements Requirements: . Minimum Degree qualification preferred and possessing two to five years of experience and knowledge in a related field . Qualified lawyer (i.e. has been called to the Malaysian bar) . Ability to prioritize . Developing ability to influence . Strong written and verbal communication . Developing lateral thinking / problem solving skills . Good inter-personal skills and ability to build relationships across business lines and within Legal . Wide knowledge and experience of banking, corporate and securities law concepts and a working knowledge of the laws in the major jurisdictions in which HSBC operates which impact on the Malaysian business . Knowledge of the HSBC group corporate structures, its business and personnel and a clear understanding of HSBC\'s corporate culture and values.
