To assist in managing and coordinating the university's technology transfer, intellectual property (IP) protection, and commercialization activities. The position supports the university's strategic goal of translating research into impactful innovations and fostering industry partnerships.
2. Key Responsibilities
A. Intellectual Property (IP) Management
Assist in identifying, evaluating, and protecting the university's research outputs with commercial potential.
Facilitate patent, copyright, and trademark filings in coordination with MyIPO or external IP agents.
Maintain and update the university's IP database and records for audit reporting.
Support the implementation of institutional IP policies and awareness among researchers.
B. Technology Transfer & Commercialization
Support the assessment of invention disclosures and market potential.
Assist in drafting and managing licensing, MoA, MoU, and NDA agreements.
Coordinate meetings with industry partners, potential licensees, and investors.
Support initiatives related to spin-offs, start-ups, and product commercialization.
Prepare and maintain documentation for commercialization income tracking and MyRA audit.
C. Industry Engagement & Collaboration
Assist in identifying potential industry partners and facilitating research-industry linkage.
Support the planning and execution of innovation exhibitions, pitching sessions, and networking events.
Maintain communication with collaborators, government agencies, and funding bodies.
D. Capacity Building & Awareness
Organize internal training sessions or workshops on IP management, patenting, and commercialization.
Prepare awareness materials and reports related to innovation and technology transfer.
Support staff and researchers in understanding processes related to IP and commercialization.
E. Reporting & Administration
Prepare periodic reports on IP status, commercialization progress, and partnership activities.
Assist in audit reporting.
Ensure accurate documentation and compliance with MoHE and university regulations.
Undertake any other related duties or responsibilities as assigned from time to time by the supervisor or management.
3. Qualifications
Minimum Requirement:
Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Business, Management, or Intellectual Property Law or any related field.
At least 3 years of working experience in research management, IP management, innovation, or industry collaboration.
Bonus Qualifications:
Master's Degree in Technology Management, Innovation Management, Intellectual Property, or MBA
Certification or training in IP (MyIPO, WIPO, AUTM) or Technology Transfer
Familiarity with MyRA, MoHE research policy, and IP commercialisation process

Strong understanding of intellectual property rights and patent processes
Knowledge of technology commercialization and licensing models
Good communication, negotiation, and report writing skills
Analytical thinking and ability to assess commercial potential of research outcomes
