The Opportunity:

Impact on the Business

Deliver Risk & Control Framework

  • Ensure adequate support for effective management of KRIs, to minimise risk. E.g., Nostro/Stock/inter-system breaks, Failed trades, Client Money and Unaffirmed Confirmations
  • Reduction in Operational losses versus previous year.
  • Support in the regular control reviews and resolution of key issues identified
Adherence to Regulatory requirements. E.g., DFA & EMIR
  • Understanding the impact of Regulatory change initiatives and support its implementation per required standards
  • Good understanding of the Key operational and Regulatory related risks & escalation in a timely manner
Process Improvements and Cost Savings Realisation
  • Collaborate with the team to deliver efficiencies which result in tangible benefits and increases effectiveness of the department
  • Support delivery of department initiatives
Partner and Input into Operating Model Strategy
  • Support the implementation of Target Operating Model by participating in Migrations/Re-migrations
Deliver - Offshoring Strategy
  • Take on new migrations from the hubs with no negative impact on operational risk, client service and efficiency
Develop and enhance Client Service Operating Model
  • Continually improve on client service
  • Build a client focussed culture within the team
What you\xe2\x80\x99ll do:

Leadership & Teamwork
  • This is imperative across a number of key deliverables. Leadership should exist in implementation of the Risk and Control Framework, identifying efficiencies and driving departmental initiatives
  • Lead by example that will influence enforcement of Risk & Control framework and Change mind set for Markets Operations
  • Create an environment where both within and outside of your direct responsibilities, Markets Operations are viewed as team players, striving to deliver in partnership with colleagues in the organisation.
  • Regular dialogue within the team and with stakeholders
  • Create greater formality on communication through management layers
Business Strategy & Global Focus
  • Understand the organisation and structure
  • Understanding of how the business is organised and structured.
  • Engage within the team to promote best practice and knowledge sharing
Operational Effectiveness & Control
  • Partner with Risk Managers to ensure consistent approach to risk and control
  • Participate in discussions around capacity and work drivers and review of brightlines
  • Contributes to the creation of a rigid risk & control environment
  • Follow formal escalation framework across all aspects of Operations, including day to day operational risks and systemic risks
  • Partner with Risk Managers to resolve high audit items, deliver prompt resolution & actions, take ownership where appropriate and liaise with relevant Business stream to provide updates and transparency
  • Success managed through identification and remediation of daily issues and appropriate escalation to management. Proactively take action on escalated issues until resolution.
  • Demonstrate positive trend in number of ops incidents
  • Active involvement in department risk initiatives, including Risk Control Assessment
  • Good understanding of operational risks inherent to the business supported
  • Monitor and track issues and remedial actions
Role Context
  • The role has full responsibility for all aspects of the local control environment and comply with the Global Best Practice and agreed process flows as defined by the global management team.
Management of Risk
  • Is aware of the Operational Risk scenario associated with the role and acts in a manner that takes account of operational risk considerations.
  • Adheres to the HSBC control framework and promotes excellent risk management across the function.
  • Close working partnership with the Business Risk and Control team
Observation of Internal Controls
  • Maintains HSBC internal control standards, including timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators.
  • Understands, follows and demonstrates compliance with all relevant internal and external rules, regulations and procedures that apply to the conduct of the business in which the jobholder is involved, specifically Internal Controls and any Compliance policy including, inter alia, the Group Compliance policy.
Requirements

What you will need to succeed in the role:
  • Sound understanding of Markets Operations
  • Experienced operations professional, preferably in off shore operations; with a focus on Markets Operations
  • Able to demonstrate leadership skills with the potential to enhance further
  • Ability to multi-task and support multiple stakeholders
  • Hands on experience of processing and supervisory functions
  • Awareness and appreciation to operations risk and control and exception management
  • Ability to implement initiatives and work as part of a team
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to manage local and international relationships across an organization
  • Attention to detail and a hands on approach to with local managers to implement process change and improve efficiency and control
  • Familiar working knowledge of associated technology
