Academic, Full Time (Contract)

Location: Miri, Sarawak

We are seeking to appoint a teaching focus academic to join the School of Pre-University and Continuing Education (SPACE) on a contract basis.

The role holder will be involved in delivering Foundation and Diploma teaching and supervision.

Your key responsibilities:

Deliver learning activities face to face, distributed or online as appropriate, which stimulate and foster student learning.

Assess and provide feedback on learning to students.

Proactively engage and collaborate with multiple stakeholders and contribute significantly to engagement and external community as part of the department's aspiration to engage in meaningful partnership within Curtin and the surrounding communities.

Selection Criteria:

Minimum, a bachelor degree in English literature/TESOL/TESL from a recognised institution. A recognised TESOL certificate (Cambridge CELTA or Trinity College Certificate in TESOL) is desirable.

Demonstrated teaching experience in Foundation English or experience in teaching academic English to students of the same level/age group of Foundation and familiar with online teaching tools.

Ability to develop/prepare teaching resources and assessments suitable to pre-university level.

Established high level teaching skills with a reflective approach to teaching delivery.

An emerging record of contribution to scholarship in teaching.

A strong understanding of pedagogical and contemporary educational practise relevant to the discipline.

A high level of English verbal and written communication.

High level communication and interpersonal skills with a commitment to the development of a collegial and supportive working environment and the ability to interact with students and staff with cross cultural sensitivity.

Contribution to an active role in academic service and proven evidence of effective leadership within the department/faculty level as appropriate to the level of appointment.
