Here at BlackFlag, we pride ourselves on creating content that constantly strives to push the envelope and impact the industry in a positive way. Our current focus is on local feature films and premium television series, but we're also in the midst of expanding!

For this very reason, we're looking for an Assistant to the Managing Director (MD) who serves as the lead Producer and Writer (and occasionally Director) for all of BlackFlag's projects.

The role requires full administrative and creative support to the MD to ensure the smooth management of day-to-day affairs, while providing an opportunity to assist in the intricate process of film production - from inception to completion, meaning everything from pitching, writing, production, post-production, distribution, etc.

Now, you don't need to already know the processes of filmmaking, but you should come in wanting to know. A general love and appreciation for movies is crucial.

General duties will include:
- Attend to all the MD's personal needs on a day-to-day basis.
- Assist with projects at all levels of story development and production.
- Provide insight and support in copywriting, ideation, research, and preparation of various visual and written project materials (E.g: treatment documents, pitch decks, videos, presentation materials, etc).
- Provide support in duties both on and off set, and manage materials for internal and external communications.
- Act as liaison with filmmakers, scriptwriters, high-level celebrities, partners, business professionals, etc.
- Assist the MD in researching and following up on matters which fall within the MD's responsibility - chasing responses, triggering follow-up action.
- Professionally handle high-level confidential, sensitive information and materials with the utmost integrity.

Administrative duties will include:
- Oversee the company runner, and coordinate all business and personal errands as needed.
- Maintain the MD's personal and business calendar and oversee the scheduling of meetings and appointments.
- Manage any e-mail, mail, phone calls, and visitors and refer matters in order of priority or respond independently when possible.
- Arrange travel plans and itineraries, compile documents for travel-related meetings, and accompany the MD when requested.
- Provide office management and proper attention to all company needs, including cleanliness and organization of the office area.
- Prepare, type, distribute, and maintain a variety of correspondence, presentations, meeting minutes, contracts, and other materials.

REQUIREMENTS:
- Educated to Diploma or Degree level in Mass Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, English, or other relevant fields.
- Minimum 3 years of work experience
- Experience in copywriting, scriptwriting, journalism, etc.
- Demonstrable creative ability. (Current portfolio to be submitted with your application.)
- A strong passion for film, storytelling, and writing is a must.
- Fluent in spoken/written English and Malay, with proficiency in an additional language preferred.
- Able to work irregular hours depending on task at hand.
- Eager and willing to learn, with great attention to detail.
- Ability to function well and meet strict deadlines in a high-paced environment.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Good health and ability to handle the physical demands of the role.
- Proficient in operating Pages, Numbers, Microsoft Words and Microsoft Excel.
- Proficient in operating Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Premier Pro and/or industry-friendly editing software preferred.
- Valid driver's license preferred.
- Ability to follow SOP.
- Salary range: RM3,000 - RM5,000 (Depending on experience)
- Desired Start Date: ASAP
