Job Description

This position plays a critical role in the digital transformation of PPG\xe2\x80\x99s research and product development laboratories. You will have the unique opportunity to work globally and deliver innovative solutions to enable cutting edge research and advanced product development. In this role, he or she will partner with Research and Product Development labs to clarify and communicate business requirements, identify and implement future state process improvements, and support LIMS lead on the successful delivery of the three streams \xe2\x80\x93 Electronic Laboratory Notebook (ELN), Analytical Management System (AMS) and Chemical Inventory Management (CIM) of the LabVantage LIMS project. You will support projects and provide ongoing support for previously launched laboratories at PPG lab locations including the United States, China and throughout Europe.

The candidate will be a member of the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) Center of Excellence team and focus on the international implementation projects.

The candidate must be willing to travel 10-20%, depending on project requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• Knowledge of practices, policies, and procedures in their area. Varied responsibilities with moderately complex problem solving, independent analysis, and decision-making skills.
• Experience in the use of technology in managing a business/function process
• Previous experience in business process re-engineering or process improvement is desirable, involving broad based information systems and utilizing tools and techniques to effect business change
• Ability to rapidly assimilate assigned business domain processes and related LIMS module
• Develop LIMS workflows based on functional requirements.
• Be adept at assessing people, process, and technology dimensions of the laboratory workflow processes.
• Partner with Subject Matter Experts to communicate the value system adoption, and drive change at all levels of a research organization
• Detailed understanding of end-to-end flows within their LIMS domain/module including customizing options to keep within LIMS standards as well as master data requirements
• In depth knowledge and experience in gathering requirements, functional design, testing and working with business processes
• Solve problems spanning multiple environments in a business area
• Communicate with all management levels
• Be comfortable in a nonhierarchical, flat organization and, if required, operate under a dual reporting relationship; ability to thrive in a somewhat unstructured hands-on environment that demands a consultative approach and solutions that span multiple environments in a business area
• Influence business personnel of the reasons to adopt your recommended solution through functional and business acumen

Qualifications

• Experience in the strategic use of technology in supporting laboratory management
• Working knowledge of an industry standard LIMS platforms such as LabVantage, Labware, Biovia, Agilent, or comparable technology is a plus
• A university degree in Information Technology, Engineering, Chemistry, Physics, or related scientific field with laboratory knowledge.
• Requires 5+ years of experience in their area of functional expertise
• Strong analytical and conceptual skills
• Effective oral and written communication skills, including technical writing
• Strong teamwork and interpersonal skills and ability to communicate with all manage\xc2\xadment levels
• Complex problem-solving and decision-making skills
• Strong technical knowledge and ability to translate complex technical concepts
• Presents data and information in a meaningful way which is relevant and easy to interpret
• Must be comfortable working remotely using primarily virtual means of collaborating with colleagues and managers
• Must be able to work without close supervision
• Able to attend meetings after hours when necessary.
• Highly motivated with a commitment to delivering high quality work in a dynamic fast-paced environment
