REQUIREMENTS

:

Minimum 1-2 years of experience in a kitchen or culinary environment (cafe or restaurant experience preferred). Basic food safety / hygiene training or certification is advantageous (e.g., food handler license, HACP knowledge). At least basic communication proficiency in Malay, English is often required; other languages may be a plus depending on the outlet. Physical stamina: ability to stand long hours, lift/carry, work under hot/humid conditions. Capable of adhering to instructions and ensuring alignment with superior's directives. Strong sense of cleanliness, organization, and attention to detail. Positive attitude and willingness to learn new skills. Able to work shifts, weekends, and public holidays as required. Able to work overtime when required. Proactive / willing to learn; adaptable to changing demands in kitchen operations. ?Willingness to take on responsibilities outside the scope as assigned by top management.

RESPONSIBILITIES :

Assist the Head Chef in preparing, cooking, and plating menu items according to recipes and presentation standards. Ensure all food preparation is carried out efficiently and safely in accordance with hygiene and safety regulations. Prepare ingredients (e.g., chopping vegetables, marinating meats, portioning sauces) as required for daily service. Maintain cleanliness and organization of kitchen equipment, utensils, and workstations at all times. Support in receiving and storing kitchen supplies, ensuring proper labeling and stock rotation (FIFO method). Monitor food quality and report any issues or shortages to the Head Chef. Assist in maintaining inventory and minimizing food wastage. Follow all cafe operational procedures and safety guidelines. Perform other related duties as assigned by the Head Chef or Cafe Manager.
