Job Description


The Position

Supporting the MSI Cluster Commercial Controlling, act as a Finance business partner to OPU BU management and the commercial organization. Ensure effective partnership by providing financial and strategic guidance, financial transparency and challenging business units appropriately.

Provide effective and efficient support to BU management in the areas of Planning, Reporting and Business Partnering as well as Controlling and continuous improvement projects to enable the best return on investment in engagement with customers.

Duties & Responsibilities

Business Partnering
Planning

  • Involvement in planning process including collection, enhancement & challenging planning data
  • Support in the documentation, comments and presentation, etc. for periodic and annual discussions
  • Review and challenge monthly phasing
  • Review, challenge, validate and support S&OP planning
  • Submit planning data
  • Support collection and update of BU risks and opportunities
Management Reporting and analysis
  • Monitor, track and challenge local KPIs, as well as general performance and financial situation
  • Identify and analyze trends / deviations
  • Conduct Gross-to-net analysis and reporting
  • Perform market- and business case evaluations (incl. operational decisions)
  • Identify focus areas, define measures and evaluate impact
  • Perform / comment (ad-hoc) analysis (e.g. revenue to expense analysis)
  • Ensure proper implementation of corporate reporting requirements
  • Monitor working capital elements (DSO, DIO) and actively challenge business
  • Support cash flow generation with information for commercial opeations
  • Support alliance management, in/out licensing
  • Opportunity analysis and risk monitoring/evaluation
  • Support in performing internal / external benchmarking
Management Accounting & Reporting
  • Perform monitoring and deviation analysis on cost object / cost element level
  • Support in defining local specifics and provide information for GBS processing
Audit/Compliance
  • Support BU business partner and Central Controlling and Accounting during internal and external audits
Financial Due Diligence
  • Evaluate market effectiveness of programs, pricing structure, sales force structure
Other
  • Support contracting/business case approval
  • Support in performing periodic compliance reviews
Service Design & Execution
Management Reporting
  • Support tracking and executing measures defined by the BU
  • Deliver BU country-specific information
  • Render local specific reports and generate OPU and BU specific management reports
  • Generate commentaries for period end
Management Accounting
  • Address data requests to GBS
Financial Accounting
  • Collect provision information for BU specific issues from business partners
Interfaces
  • Local and ROPU BU management, and Corporate BU organzation
  • Local and ROPU Finance & Controlling team, including Central Controlling, Group Function Controlling and local Tax management
  • Other Group Functions within OPU, ROPU and Global
  • Commercial Supply Chain Management, Commercial Quality, Sourcing, DRA, Medical Controlling
  • External customers and consultants, etc.
Requirements

Minimum Education/Degree Requirements
  • Bachelors degree - Major/focus Business Administration / Economics / Finance / Accounting
Required Capabilities (Skills, Experience, Competencies)
Skills & experiences
  • Strong functional and good business know-how, business acumen, strong technical skills in systems and tools, strong process thinking, understanding "big picture", future oriented, ability to look beyond own responsibility
  • Broad overall finance knowledge incl. accounting, tax, treasury and compliance
  • Strong analytical thinking, esp. ability to understand and work on complex controlling, business and finance related topics
  • Special Working Experience:
  • Controlling experience incl. systems, processes and guidelines required
  • Finance experience (accounting, tax, treasury) strongly preferred
Competencies
  • Agile, flexible, learning & sharing, able to deal with very different cultures and to work under pressure; team player
  • Able to speak the "language" of the Business Partners, strong communication and presentation skills, ability to prepare topics and to explain them in a way understandable to non-experts
