Job Description
Assists in the preparation of food in the staff cafeteria, ensuring hygiene, quality, and consistency in daily meal service. This is an entry-level kitchen position suitable for those with basic culinary skills and a passion for food preparation.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist in basic food preparation for staff meals (breakfast, lunch, dinner). Ensure all food is prepared in accordance with hygiene and safety standards. Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen and storage areas. Support senior chefs with cutting, peeling, and simple cooking tasks. Refill food stations and ensure proper portioning. Follow recipes and instructions as directed by senior kitchen staff. Handle food storage, labeling, and rotation (FIFO system). Clean and sanitize kitchen equipment and workstations. Assist in receiving and storing kitchen supplies when needed. Report any kitchen maintenance or food quality issues to supervisors.
Requirements:
Basic culinary knowledge or certificate preferred. 0-1 year experience in a similar kitchen role (cafeteria or hotel setting is a plus). Ability to follow instructions and work in a team. Basic knowledge of food safety and hygiene. Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends and public holidays. Physically fit and able to work in a fast-paced environment.
