Role Responsibilities
Define key responsibilities to reflect the duties and responsibilities of this role. In keeping with the bank\xe2\x80\x99s commitment to Sustainability and the core values, The Country Sustainability Lead will be responsible for the Malaysia Sustainability agenda. Refer below for details. RESPONSIBILITIES* Strategy*

  • Lead Sustainability agenda and work with CCIB & CPBB in driving Sustainable Finance with the objective of protecting and enhancing value creation for Malaysia franchise.
  • Ensuring public disclosures and policies are aligned with internal practices. Driving the enterprise narrative, both internally and externally, partnering with corporate affairs and other business units.
  • The inclination to seek and analyze data from a variety of sources to support decisions and to align others with the overall strategy an entrepreneurial and creative approach to developing new, innovative ideas
  • To lead Sustainable Finance & Climate Risk Forum

Business*
  • To champion implementation of the delivery plan within each business and function working in collaboration with respective Executive Committee members to achieve coordinated action on the Sustainability Strategy.
  • Provide adequate disclosure and articulate strategic changes that may impact progress, either negatively or positively
  • Participate in diligence sessions and represent the company at external panels and conferences
  • To work with stakeholders in executing the Stand on Accelerating Zero i.e. Sustainable Finance (SF) aspiration, operationally ready to be net-zero by 2025
  • Championing Sustainability at industry level
  • Identify areas of collaboration, bringing together segments and product teams to work together to shape the delivery of sustainable products and client propositions.
  • To support external engagement and marketing with the objective to improve our leadership profile in the arena of sustainability.
  • To provide periodic reporting/updates to the Board
  • Act as SCB\xe2\x80\x99s representative at the ABM ESG sub-committee
  • Cover for CEO at the JC3 committee and take on at least 1 of the JC3 sub-committees
  • Represent SCB at the various government led ESG workshops
Processes*
  • Oversee data management capabilities and tools to ensure that performance improvement data is collected and analyzed to track progress

People & Talent *
  • Lead through example and build the appropriate culture and values. Set appropriate tone and work in collaboration with risk and control partners.
  • Ensure the provision of ongoing training and development of people, and ensure that holders of all critical functions are suitably skilled and qualified for their roles ensuring that they have effective supervision in place to mitigate any risks.

Risk Management*
  • Ensure that Risk Management matters that are brought to the job-holder\'s attention are subject to direct remedial action and/or escalated, where appropriate to relevant risk committees
  • Oversee the effective management of climate-related risks
  • Ensure any audit and compliance issues relating to Sustainable Finance & Climate Risk are resolved in a timely manner
  • To facilitate standardised classification and reporting of climate-related exposures to support risk assessments at the institution and systemic levels, strengthen accountability and market transparency, and encourage financial flows towards supporting climate objectives.

Governance *
  • Responsible for assessing the effectiveness of the Country\xe2\x80\x99s arrangements to deliver effective governance, oversight and controls in the business and, if necessary, oversee changes in these areas
  • Awareness and understanding of the regulatory framework and the regulatory requirements and expectations relevant to the role.
  • Responsible for delivering \xe2\x80\x98effective governance\xe2\x80\x99; capability to challenge fellow executives effectively; and work with any local regulators in an open and cooperative manner.
  • To ensure the Country meets Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosures (TCFD) requirements (where applicable) and approve the Country TCFD
  • To provide oversight on reporting, regulatory compliance, and monitoring of climate related initiatives and exposures
  • To work closely with SCB Group and internal stakeholder on the rollout of climate risk taxonomy and to meet other relevant regulatory requirements relating to Sustainability and Climate Risk

Regulatory & Business Conduct *
  • Display exemplary conduct and live by the Group\xe2\x80\x99s Values and Code of Conduct.
  • Take personal responsibility for embedding the highest standards of ethics, including regulatory and business conduct, across Standard Chartered Bank. This includes understanding and ensuring compliance with, in letter and spirit, all applicable laws, regulations, guidelines and the Group Code of Conduct.
  • Work with Country and Group stakeholder to achieve the outcomes set out in the Bank\xe2\x80\x99s Conduct Principles: Fair Outcomes for Clients; Effective Financial Markets; Financial Crime Compliance; The Right Environment.
  • Effectively and collaboratively identify, escalate, mitigate and resolve risk, conduct and compliance matters.

Key stakeholders* Internal:

    • Engage with product partners within the region and globally to ensure breadth and depth of client coverage.
    • Consult with senior stakeholders in Risk and Legal & Compliance to ensure that the portfolio remains credit worthy and within the policies of the bank.
    • Risk, Strategy and Sustainability colleagues on Sustainable Finance

External:
  • Acting as a trusted advisor to regulators and clients, as relevant

Other Responsibilities*
  • Perform other responsibilities assigned under Group, Country, Business or Functional policies and
procedures. QUALIFICATIONS* TRAINING, LICENSES, MEMBERSHIPS AND CERTIFICATIONS
  • 5 to 10 years of progressive banking experience in Corporates, operational or project management focused role
  • Strong written, presentation, and verbal communications at executive level
  • Demonstrated experience working with key stakeholders and leaders
  • Competency in the areas of cross group collaboration, analytical thinking, and strategic development
  • Strong organizational skills, excellent execution.
  • Ability to work long hours; pace of job unpredictable and driven by CEO\xe2\x80\x99s priorities
