The Credit Controller is responsible for managing the company's credit policies, monitoring outstanding payments, and ensuring timely collection of accounts receivable. This role supports the Finance Department to maintain healthy cash flow, reduce credit risks, and provide accurate credit-related reporting.
Key Responsibilities:
A. Credit Management & Analysis
Review, evaluate, and approve customer credit applications based on company credit policies.
Conduct credit checks, assess financial risk, and set appropriate credit limits.
Monitor customer account status to identify potential risks or overdue patterns.
Maintain and update customer credit profiles and documentation.
B. Accounts Receivable & Collection
Monitor daily accounts receivable (AR) ageing report.
Follow up on outstanding invoices via calls, emails, and written reminders.
Prepare monthly collection forecast and ensure timely collection to meet cash flow targets.
Escalate problematic accounts and propose actions such as credit hold, payment plans, or legal action.
Coordinate with the Sales Team on customer payment issues, disputes, or delayed collections.
C. Billing & Documentation
Verify billing accuracy before invoicing to customers.
Ensure all invoices, DOs, SOs, and supporting documents are complete and accurate.
Track post-dated cheques, bank-in, and payment allocations.
Ensure proper filing and documentation for audit purposes.
D. Reporting & Compliance
Prepare weekly and monthly AR reports, cash collection reports, and credit exposure summaries.
Highlight high-risk accounts and recommend mitigation action.
Support month-end closing activities related to AR.
Ensure compliance with company credit policies, SOPs, and internal controls.
E. Coordination & Customer Service
Work closely with Sales, Accounts, and Operations to resolve billing or payment discrepancies.
Communicate professionally with customers on credit terms, outstanding payments, and settlement plans.
Provide customer statements and payment updates upon request.
Requirements:
Diploma/Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or equivalent.
Minimum 3-4 years of working experience in Credit Control or Accounts Receivable (AR).
Experience in trading, distribution, or marketing industries is an added advantage.
Proficient in SQL Accounting System (required).
Strong communication and negotiation skills for dealing with customers.
Good understanding of credit processes, AR workflows, and financial documentation.
Proficient in MS Excel (pivot table, VLOOKUP, basic formulas).
Detail-oriented, disciplined, honest, and able to work under pressure.
