The Credit Controller role will perform a wide range of duties and responsibilities. These may include, but are not limited to:
Chasing up overdue payments via telephone and email
Resolving customer queries and issues
Reviewing credit applications and references
Use of knowledge of different legal entities and credit verification processes to ensure credit worthiness
Establish policies that follow customer service best practices while ensuring customers submit payments on time.
Setting credit limits and looking for ways to improve debt collection processes.
Receipting, allocation and reconciliation of payments to customer's accounts
Solving problems regarding incorrect payments
Managing the Days Sales Outstanding figure
Preparing journal entries and assisting with month end debtors report
Producing monthly Aged Debtor Reports
Highlighting problem with customers to senior management
Assessing company risk
Referring debts to third party collection agencies when necessary
Assisting the broader accounts team with ad hoc tasks
Develop and monitor a credit control system in collaboration with sales and marketing, finance and executive team members.
Check consumer credit reports, approve or deny applications and communicate decisions to the appropriate personnel in a timely manner.
Negotiate payment plans with consumers and set loan terms and conditions accordingly.
Conduct regular analysis of the credit control system and implement changes as needed to reduce bad debts.
Follow up on overdue invoices and payments and implement company collections procedures as necessary.
