Objectives of the Position

The Customs Classification Specialist is responsible for all related activities required for customs classification of BASF products and raw materials as well as other non-chemical materials to be classified in A/P. He or she must comply with the applicable laws and customs regulations to ensure a correct and up-to-date classification. In the role, he or she is part of the Global Customs Classification team and needs to closely work together with the National Customs Classification Specialist.

Main Tasks

• Customs classification of BASF products, raw materials and non-chemical materials and maintenance of master data for customs classification in BASF\'s databases
• Global responsibility for non-chemical materials
• Global supported-governance role regarding customs classification for the BASF Group
• Identification of relevant customs laws and regulations as well as new customs issues
• Participation in the development of concepts for the implementation of legal requirements and in the optimization of customs classification processes in the BASF Group
• Support of the global harmonization of customs classification data and BASF\'s IT processes on customs classification
• Support and Understanding of BASF interests at national and international authorities and associations
• Ensuring regulatory compliance in collaboration with the business units and group companies
• Information, training and consulting support for the BASF Group companies, business units and group companies worldwide
• Monitoring and processing of duty suspensions and tariff quotas
• Processing of IT-specific questions within the scope of the classification work and representation of the group interests in this work area
• Periodic review of product classifications to ensure compliance
• Support data upload and maintenance in Power BI

Requirements

Professional Experience

• Experience in customs classification of chemical and non-chemical products is desirable

Technical Skills & Foreign Languages

• Strong communication and argumentation skills
• Excellent analytical thinking
• Structured work organization
• Strong teamwork competence
• Good knowledge of the SAP master data systems and SAP GTS
• Good knowledge of Power BI
• English (fluent in spoken and written)
