Objectives of the Position The Customs Classification Specialist is responsible for all related activities required for customs classification of BASF products and raw materials as well as other non-chemical materials to be classified in A/P. He or she must comply with the applicable laws and customs regulations to ensure a correct and up-to-date classification. In the role, he or she is part of the Global Customs Classification team and needs to closely work together with the National Customs Classification Specialist. Main Tasks Customs classification of BASF products, raw materials and non-chemical materials and maintenance of master data for customs classification in BASF\'s databases Global responsibility for non-chemical materials Global supported-governance role regarding customs classification for the BASF Group Identification of relevant customs laws and regulations as well as new customs issues Participation in the development of concepts for the implementation of legal requirements and in the optimization of customs classification processes in the BASF Group Support of the global harmonization of customs classification data and BASF\'s IT processes on customs classification Support and understanding of BASF interests at national and international authorities and associations Ensuring regulatory compliance in collaboration with the business units and group companies Information, training and consulting support for the BASF Group companies, business units and group companies worldwide Monitoring and processing of duty suspensions and tariff quotas Processing of IT-specific questions within the scope of the classification work and representation of the group interests in this work area Periodic review of product classifications to ensure compliance Support data upload and maintenance in Power BI Requirements Experience in customs classification of chemical and non-chemical products is desirable Strong communication and argumentation skills Excellent analytical thinking Structured work organization Strong teamwork competence Good knowledge of the SAP master data systems and SAP GTS Good knowledge of Power BI English (fluent in spoken and written) BASF Asia-Pacific Service Centre was established in 2005.
