Get to know the Role: We are looking for a senior engineering manager to lead the Digibank Core Banking team. You will have opportunities to work on mission critical self-serve web and mobile platforms, backend services, distributed datastores, analytics, big data pipelines, predictive capabilities via ML models, etc The Day-to-Day Activities: Lead a team of managers and engineers across different tech stacks (mobile, web and backend) to deliver highly scalable and available services and intuitive experiences for our users. Partner with cross functional leaders to build the product roadmap and set customer focussed metrics and robust experiment designs. Lead bi-annually planning and build a smooth execution plan with the team for securing the delivery of product and engineering roadmap, you are the ultimate owner of the successful delivery and rollout of your roadmap. Drive company-wide engineering initiatives by collaborating effectively with senior leaders across the company by employing your mastery of technologies, communicating your ideas effectively and driving alignment with key stakeholders to create successful outcomes. Set the engineering strategy and engineering excellence metrics and targets for the team, consistently raise the bar across testability, availability, security and code quality for your systems and modules. Attract and retain senior engineering talent, actively mentor and develop engineering talent in the team and across the organisation. Keep your teams, org structure and staffing aligned with business needs and quickly pivot teams to changing needs. The Must-Haves: A degree in computer science or equivalent with 6+ years experience on web, mobile, or backend technologies. A track record of technical leadership in product development and people management. Experience working for a start-up or scale-up is preferred. Experience leading large teams, collaborating with product, design, and commercial teams, and driving large-scale product launches. Demonstrated experience in attracting and retaining key talents. Experience in mentoring senior engineers and engineering managers alike is critical to this role. Possess strong communication skills and can communicate complex technical topics to technical and non-technical audiences effectively. A cultural role model with a strong sense of humility and empathy coupled with a bias for action and a passionate commitment to engineering excellence. Deep understanding in banking technology is essential but not mandatory.
