JOB PURPOSE

In line with the University\'s priority to produce an immersive learning environment, we have established the Vortex Lab, an XR Lab. The Vortex Lab plays an important role in developing immersive learning experiences as well as XR Research within the university. It poses a great need for academics and graduate to adopt XR technologies that will enable immersive and experiential learning, deepen learners\' interaction with complex problems and allow hybrid collaborations for solutions.

The Director of Taylor\'s Vortex is responsible for leading and develop Taylor\'s Vortex Lab to become a world-class XR centre that drives immersive and innovative XR research, ideas and solutions within the region. He/she is expected to support the University\'s strategic plan to drive the use of cutting-edge XR technology and support adoptions of XR technology among graduates and academics, driving the centre for XR development, prototyping and solutions for various industries as well as to quantum-leap the competitive-edge and visibility of Taylor\'s in the area of future XR technologies.

This position will report to the Director, Learning Innovation and Development at the Centre for Future Learning and will work closely with various key stakeholders within Taylor\'s community including the Heads of Schools, XR Faculty Leads, Programme Directors, Module Leaders, Head of Digital and Marketing, Director of Knowledge Transfer & Commercialisation, Director of Taylor\'s Me.Reka Makerspace etc.

KEY RESULT AREAS / RESPONSIBILITIES

  • To ensure XR technologies are embedded into modules in Foundation, Diploma, Bachelor\'s degree and PG programmes to enrich students\' learning experience.
  • To plan, develop and implement XR Strategies for the university for the purpose of immersive learning and research in XR Technologies.
  • To support Schools in evaluating existing curriculum and identifying areas where XR technologies can complement or enhance content delivery and student engagement.
  • To support Schools in creating XR learning artifacts to improve the way students engage with immersive educational experiences.
  • To produce impactful evidences of how adoption of XR have Increased the attainment of learning outcomes, students\' satisfaction, recognized in external awards and thought leadership articles in media.
  • To ensure the Vortex Lab become the leading XR Centre within the region.
  • To drive the adoption of XR Technologies among the university community.
  • Serve as the primary liaison officer for XR Technologies and Solutions within the university.
  • Ensure operational matters such as resource acquisition and allocation of Taylor\'s Vortex Lab, are managed well.
  • Develop the annual budget and manage the Profit & Loss account for Vortex
  • Work closely with Taylor\'s key stakeholders, such as Heads of School, XR Faculty Leads, Programme Directors, Head of Business Development, the setup Director to drive various related student activities/events for ensuring the optimum outcomes of Vortex.
  • Provide support to Marketing Team in producing effective and timely publicity of Vortex for its branding.
  • Coordinate the availability of facilities and expert via a system and ensure optimum utilisation of Taylor\'s Vortex.
  • Support and supervise the formation and running of Taylor\'s student XR club as part of the plan to instil a culture of XR innovation amongst students and staff.
JOB SPECIFICATIONS

Minimum Qualification

Possess a master degree in the relevant area of specialisation and/or teaching qualification.

Related Experience

The ideal candidate will hold a master\'s degree in emerging media and design fields related to AR/VR/XR, or Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, or a similar field; and have 5 years of professional experience leading a centre/ department in a similar field. The candidate must have strong problem-solving, communication, and media literacy skill sets. Candidate with three (3) years of teaching experience or have been involved in projects at higher education institutions or XR Industries are encouraged to apply.
