Main purpose of the role:

Responsible for the safe, cost-effective and timely delivery of all Petrofac Malaysia Drilling, Completion and Workover activities to meet Business Unit requirements.

Key Accountabilities:

• Safe delivery of wells as per agreed objectives, approved AFE and schedule.
• Provide technical oversight of all well operations.
• Review and sign off all D&C well procedures ensuring Petrofac D&C standards and MPM guidelines (PPGUA) are met and best practices followed.
• Ensure application of Management of Change (MOC) when required.
• Liaise with PETRONAS MPM to ensure timely approval of Drilling activities and contracts.
• Review Drilling contracts to ensure compliance with Tender Committee and PETRONAS Procurement procedures.
• Manage contractors to ensure delivery meets Petrofac requirements. Quarterly Service Quality Meetings for high risk/value contracts.
• Prepare resource plan and annual department budget and maintain within approved limits.
• Show visible safety leadership with effective site visits.
• Ensure junior engineers are developed to meet their potential.
• Drive continuous improvement, demonstrated by year-on-year safety and cost metrics.
• Visible demonstration of Company Values (Safe, Quality and Cost Conscious, Innovative, Responsive, Ethical, Driven to Deliver)
• Adhere to Life Saving Rules and Code of Conduct.
• Follow company policies and guidelines.
• Meet annual KPIs
• Ensure department staff members have measurable, realistic and timely Scorecard objectives
• Attendance at monthly HSSEAI meetings
• Attendance at Management Team meetings
• Attendance at Petrofac Tender Committee meetings, as required

Knowledge & Qualifications:

• At least 20 years of Well Engineering experience with 5 years in a senior managerial capacity for Drilling & Completion activities. Experience of well types likely to be encountered in Malaysia including but not limited to offshore production and exploration wells with jack-up drilling rigs.
• Educated to B.Sc level as a minimum in an engineering (mechanical or petroleum preferred) or technical discipline (eg electrical or chemical engineering).
• Prior experience of drilling wells in Peninsular Malaysia is preferred and international experience is considered an advantage.
• Demonstrated exposure to different well types, technologies and logistical issues.
• Experience leading teams of different cultural, religious and ethnic backgrounds due to the high local content and cultural sensitivities.
• Must be self-motivated and able to work with limited direction.
• Ability to communicate and influence well at all levels - with team, peers, senior management, joint-venture partners and national oil company representatives.
• Ability to work within multi-disciplinary teams and resolve conflict.
• Must be medically fit and able to pass the required offshore medical and BOSET training as required. Regular offshore visits will be required during well operations and as part of the Management Team Leadership Site Safety Visits.
• Must be able to pass IWCF Level 4 Drilling Well Control training, as required.
• Prior experience as Drilling Supervisor or Drilling Superintendent may be considered an advantage.
