Entry Manufacturing Engineering Support Assistant (contract)

Position Overview and Responsibilities

National Instruments is looking for a highly energetic individual for a entry level Manufacturing Engineering Support Assistant (ESA) for our Penang Operation. As an NI Manufacturing ESA, you will be responsible for financial management of test engineering, spare management and duplication management. Manufacturing ESA has the opportunity to increase the efficiencies of test technicians and engineers in a high mix, low volume, high tech and high-quality operation. The candidate must possess strong planning and interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to gain cross-functional support to meet objectives.

Core Job Responsibilities

Financial Management

• In charge of ordering items ,OPEX and CAPEX
• In charge of managing budget vs actual accuracy (planning,tracking and analysis)
• 1-stop contact point for engineer purchase request.

Duplication Management

• Plan, source and purchase items for test hardware (test station, ITA or Fixture) duplication from Internal or external suppliers, according to the hardware BOM list.
• Collaborate with other department (e.g. Finance, buyer, shipping, receiving etc) and follow through with suppliers/vendors on the purchased items until they are received.
• Receive items and store items at dedicated location for build.
• Continuous improvement on the duplication management process to increase effectiveness and reduce turn around time.

Spares Management

• Plan, own and manage spares and assets of PEN MFG Test Engineering. Manage locations and the safe keep of spares, assets and other inventories.
• Check on spares quantity in system and ensure items get replenished once it reaches minimum quantity.
• Request for quotation from supplier and responsible to source from multiple channels.
• Place order for RFQ (refreshed Quantity) only.
• Manage incoming quantity and check item into system. Review threshold.
• Control spare and inventory in/out.
• Work with Test Engineers to ensure and maintain spares quantity for smooth production run
• Continuous improvement on the spare management process to increase effectiveness and reduce EOQ risk.

Education

Associate\'s Degree in Electronics, Computer Science, Industrial Control Systems, or equivalent from an accredited program.

Requirements

• Fresh graduate up to 2 years of appropriate experience in the area of managing manufacturing test system support and development or similar environment.
• Experience in managing multiple projects and coordinating purchase of components and hardware for a high mix, low volume, high tech electronics environment.
• Effective written and verbal communication in English locally and internationally is a must.
• Familiarity with technical terminology and requirements, preferably in Test or Manufacturing environment is an added advantage.
• Familiarity with calibration and measurement methodologies is an added advantage.
• Must be able to function in a highly relationship-based global environment.
• Must be hands-on and resourceful, possess a strong work ethic, and be attentive to current and future customer requirements, both internal and external. The individual must have the intellect and team skills to work among capable, results-oriented peers.
• Take ownership and be responsible, self-driven and goal oriented, taking initiative in completing assigned tasks in timely manner.
