Job Description


Job Purpose

  • The Senior Executive, Strategic Communications & Media (SCM) is responsible to support the department\'s objectives in managing the corporate reputation through strategic media, offline and digital communications activities, as well as PR activities.
  • He/She will be involved to promote, project and protect the brand through strategic communications efforts assigned by HOD & HOU, i.e., establishing leadership in sustainability, proper narrative & profiling of the business, maintain positive and productive relationships with the media and other key stakeholders, and propose impactful initiatives to elevate brand reputation, among others.
  • Activities managed by the unit is to ensure reputational risk is proactively identified, mitigated, and addressed to always safeguard the brand image and reputation, as well as generate PR value as per annual corporate scorecard targets and generate the right perception among stakeholders
  • In the Strategic Communications domain, His/Her scope includes but is not limited to stakeholder relations activities beyond traditional mass media, digital communications, stakeholder relations, social listening (i.e., analytics, insights, perception management & response), business intelligence and to act as a key member in crisis response and issues management activities.
  • In the Media Relations domain, His/Her scope includes but is not limited to media management, press release & advertorial development, daily media monitoring, PR value tracking, sentiment analysis, organising media briefings, interviews & pitches, as well as the expected complete management reporting for this function.
  • He/She is also involved in editorial & publications works (external content) as and when required or assigned by HOD/HOU. He/She will also be involved in non-core assignments and projects whenever a need arises.
  • He/She is expected to possess adequate organisational skills, language proficiency in English and Bahasa Malaysia, experience in developing content to support/organise stakeholder engagement events/programmes. Exposure to media matters at a large public listed company is an added advantage to perform well in this position.
Job Responsibilities
  • Strategic Communications
Involved in supporting the execution of the Company\'s annual strategic communications and media management plan, to always protect the brand, project the correct positioning, and positively impact the Company\'s reputation among all stakeholders. Involved in selected crisis response & issues management activities, working closely with HOD & HOU to ensure strategic and positive outcomes to safeguard and enhance the company\'s brand, image, and reputation.
  • Daily Media Monitoring & PR Value Tracking
Support HOU to perform daily media & social media monitoring for daily circulation to management. Liaise with monitoring agencies to ensure timely and accurate details in each report. Ensure proper archiving of reports (daily, weekly monthly) for posterity. Conduct regular PR value tracking according to the management reporting template.

  • Online & Offline Reputation Management: Social Listening, Analytics, Insight, Sentiment & Perception Management
Support HOU in overseeing health and performance of company\'s profile across offline and online platforms, supported by tools and techniques available inhouse (online) / deployed through agency services to effectively manage the company\'s reputation among stakeholders.
  • Corporate Media, PR, Narrative and Profiling - Development & Advisory
Support HOU in strategising responses or proactive development of communications plans to top management and internal stakeholders in support of corporate and business objectives. Also responsible to produce supporting documents (i.e., FAQs, talking points) for stakeholder engagement events, critical decision making and management responses.
  • Press Release & Advertorial Development
Produce early draft of press releases, advertorials, and articles to communicate company\'s financial results, business & strategic developments, sustainability achievements, awards, and the like. Responsible for version control, fact checking and coordination inter-department, as well as translations.

  • Media Engagement & Relations
Support HOU in the organisation of media engagements, briefings, exclusive interviews, appreciation events, festive greetings, and the like to strategically communicate news from the Company, as well as enhance media relations.
  • Media-Related Asset Management
Support HOU to manage database of holding statements for immediate response & readiness. Ensure approved templates for press releases, notes to editors, boiler plate, elevator pitch and other related media and stakeholder engagement assets are maintained and updated as and when required.
  • Projects, Editorial & Publications Support
Involved in support of HOD/HOU-assigned and/or management approved projects, including editorial works and publications development (i.e., Annual Report, sustainability reports, launch events, etc.)

  • Work with a team of professionals / subject matter experts / senior & junior executives / trainees / interns / project team members to complete assignments / projects / tasks and achieve company objectives within budget and time.
  • Timeline management / programming / scheduling / progress tracking
  • Data accuracy, analytics, insights, and records archiving.
Education/Professional Qualification
  • Bachelors Degree
  • Specialisation: Corporate Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Corporate Affairs, Mass Communications
Professional Experience

Experience
  • Total Work Experience: Min 4 years, preferably in a large and listed multinational corporation (
1,000 employees) * Total Relevant Experience: 2+ years in Corporate Communications / Corporate Affairs / Public Relations / Journalism / New Media
