A leading retail chain company that is well known to individuals all over this region is looking for a Facilities Engineer to plan utility improvement projects and manage day-to-day utility operations. In this job, you will report directly to the M&E Manager.

About the Facilities Engineer Role:
In this position, you will be required to undertake technical and feasibility studies, project planning, and site investigations as well as to consult and provide support on all M&E aspect involving repairs and maintenance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead technical staff in the day-to-day troubleshooting of the plant breakdowns
  • Schedule and perform preventive maintenance of utility and facility equipment
  • Prepare monthly reports, and capital expenditures as well as evaluate service providers
  • Ensure that the daily plant operations run smoothly with minimal downtime
  • Ensure the department is compliant with local environmental, health and safety legislation and standards
  • Be proactive in proposing utility and maintenance CAPEX improvement projects
  • Develop Value Engineering methods to achieve cost savings
  • Engage and coordinate with external contractors when required for repair or upgrading works of building facilities and utilities
  • Review designs and contractor work to ensure the implementation of engineering best practices for long-term effectiveness
  • Develop spare parts list for critical equipment
  • Update the database with the latest drawings and manuals for all utility and facility equipment from contractors
To be successful in this role, you must possess a minimum of five years of experience in facility management and can work on your own initiative.

Key Requirements:
  • Degree in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering or related field of study
  • At least five years of experience in facilities and utilities management (HVAC, compressed air, electrical, city water and fire systems)
  • Excellent knowledge of good practices and local/state/federal regulations pertaining to occupational safety and health, environmental control and security
  • Strong understanding of preventive maintenance
  • High accountability and ownership to drive closure of action items
  • Ability to lead changes, a self-starter and able to inspire others
  • Highly organised, process driven and analytical in problem-solving
  • Positive approach, self-motivated, a team player and possesses a high level of integrity
