Degree in Accountancy or ACCA (or equivalent), with a solid understanding of finance principles as they apply to the travel industry.
Minimum 5 years of working experience in finance or accounting roles within the travel sector, with supervisory experience preferred.
Proven expertise in financial analysis, reporting, and budgeting, ideally with exposure to the dynamics of the travel and tourism industry.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with stakeholders including travel suppliers, partners, and customers.
Analytical mindset with excellent problem-solving abilities, capable of navigating the complexities of the travel business environment.
Strong organizational and multitasking skills, with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic industry.
Proficient in Microsoft Office, with experience in travel-specific software and systems preferred.
ResponsibilitiesFinancial Analysis and Reporting
Review financial reports/management reports, accounts receivable (AR), and accounts payable(AP)
Prepare accurate and timely forecasts and budgets for profit and loss statements, balance sheets, cash flows, and management reports, considering seasonality and market trends in the travel sector.
Conduct financial analysis to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for improvement, such as analyzing booking patterns and customer spending behavior.
Prepare monthly financial reports and presentations for management and stakeholders, highlighting key performance indicators relevant to the travel industry.
Ensure compliance with accounting principles, standards, and regulatory requirements specific to the travel and tourism sector.
Budgeting and Cost Control
Manage and control the budgeting process, taking into account fluctuations in travel demand, pricing dynamics and foreign exchange risk.
Establish budgetary goals and objectives aligned with the strategic objectives of the travel company.
Monitor and control expenses to ensure adherence to approved budgets, including costs related to transportation, accommodation, and marketing.
Financial Operations
Oversee day-to-day financial operations, including accounts receivable, accounts payable, payments & receipts, and general ledger activities, with a focus on travel-specific transactions.
Manage full sets of accounts, including monthly/yearly closing for smaller entities within the travel company.
Ensure accuracy and integrity of financial data, resolving any discrepancies or issues related to bookings, refunds, and commission payments.
Liaise with external parties such as airlines, hotels, tour operators, and regulatory bodies relevant to the travel industry.
Team Leadership and Development
Collaborate with other departments such as sales, marketing, and operations to align financial strategies with business objectives in the travel sector.
