to establish and lead a new GL operation within the Finance Shared Services team. This role will drive standardization, centralization, and efficiency in GL accounting processes while ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting. The candidate should bring strong leadership, operational excellence, and hands-on experience in managing transitions and process improvements.
Key Responsibilities:
Design and implement the structure and operating model for the new GL team.
Lead recruitment, onboarding, and training of GL staff.
Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
Implement standardized GL processes, policies, and controls in coordination with Corporate and Regional Accounting teams.
Define and document workflows for journal entries, reconciliations, and month-end close.
Collaborate cross-functionally to ensure seamless integration with related finance processes.
Drive harmonization and simplification of GL activities across entities.
Perform any other ad-hoc duties as required.
Lead the end-to-end transition of GL activities into the shared services center.
Develop and execute transition plans, including timelines, resource allocation, and risk mitigation.
Partner with regional stakeholders to ensure smooth knowledge transfer and minimal disruption.
Oversee daily GL activities and ensure timely, accurate month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close.
Ensure compliance with IFRS/MFRS and internal policies.
Drive automation and process enhancements to improve accuracy and efficiency.
Establish robust internal controls aligned with SOX and risk management practices.
Support internal and external audit processes.
Track and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) and service level agreements (SLAs).
Act as a strategic partner to corporate and regional finance teams.
Provide insights and recommendations to senior management based on GL data and performance trends.
Serve as a subject matter expert for all GL-related matters across the organization.
Qualifications & Experience:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
Professional certification (CPA, ACCA, or equivalent) preferred.
Minimum 7-10 years of relevant experience in finance, accounting, or auditing, including at least 3 years in a managerial capacity.
Strong knowledge of IFRS/MFRS, tax regulations, and financial reporting standards.
Experience with ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, or equivalent).
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial analysis tools.
