POSITION : Senior Geologist

REPORTING TO : Head of Peninsular and Sabah Project

DIVISION/DEPARTMENT : PLX / PLX/P

LOCATION : KL Office

1. KEY OBJECTIVES

Key Accountabilities

• Responsible for providing geological and geophysical expertise.
• Regional and prospect-specific assessment of exploration potential of exploration blocks.
• Develop high quality, ready-to-drill prospect inventory, incorporating regional studies and cutting-edge technology.
• Operational (drilling) planning and execution for exploration and appraisal wells.

2. PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES

• Conduct regional studies as a member of regional studies team to evaluate basin prospectivity and identify new play potential.
• Identify and mature opportunities into ready-to-drill prospect, including the development of the well plan, data acquisition and well proposal.
• Carry out resource assessment and geological risk assessment consistent with industry standard practices through the integration of geological, petrophysical and dynamic reservoir data.
• Manage real-time data links between well site(s) and KL office.
• Supervision of work compliance by mud logging, LWD and wire line sub-contractors.
• Plan and manage studies by geological service contractors or own analysis in a time and cost-efficient manner.
• Mentor and develop junior technical staff.

3. QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

• Relevant degree with a preference for postgraduate qualification.
• Minimum of 10-15 years of multi-basin experience with an E&P company. Diverse exploration, appraisal and development experience and expertise.
• Have a strong background and experienced as Geologist of various geological setting especially in shallow and deep water.
• Experience in integrating diverse geological, geophysical, petrophysical and reservoir engineering data into a cohesive and comprehensive basin or prospect evaluation. Demonstrable skills in the core areas of Structural, Stratigraphy and Sedimentology with good understanding of the others.
• Hands on experience in reserve/resource and geological risk assessment, field conceptual development, well targeting/planning and geological/geophysical operations.
• Proficiency in geological modeling is a plus.
• Have a strong background in and be fully conversant in LWD Logging and the latest advanced technologies.
• Have a strong background in mud logging, wireline and general rig operations.
• Be highly computer knowledgeable in a variety of geological software applications with a demonstrated ability in applying information technology.
