Job Description

As the Head of Accounts, you will oversee the end-to-end accounting function, including Accounts Receivable (AR), Accounts Payable (AP), General Ledger (GL), and month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closings. This is a key leadership role, requiring deep technical knowledge, strong people management skills, and a track record of driving operational excellence.

You will ensure compliance with Malaysian Financial Reporting Standards (MFRS), tax regulations (including SST, LHDN, and other statutory requirements), while also supporting strategic finance initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

Lead and manage the accounting team across core functions: AR, AP, GL, and financial closing
Oversee accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and annual closings, ensuring compliance with MFRS and internal standards
Ensure all tax filings and statutory reporting are completed in line with Malaysian regulatory requirements (e.g. SST, LHDN, Companies Commission)
Maintain and strengthen internal controls, accounting policies, and workflow processes
Review and analyze financial statements to ensure accuracy and provide actionable insights to management
Collaborate with auditors, tax agents, and banks to ensure smooth external relationships and audits
Improve efficiency through automation, digital systems, and ERP optimization
Coach, lead, and develop a high-performing accounting team to support business scale-up
Support budgeting, forecasting, and treasury functions in coordination with the Finance Director
Ensure alignment with business growth and expansion plans in Malaysia and other regional markets

Requirements:

Degree in Accounting, Finance, or equivalent
Professional qualification such as CPA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent is highly preferred
8-10+ years of accounting experience, with at least 3-5 years in a supervisory or managerial role
Strong command of AR, AP, GL, and full financial closing processes
In-depth knowledge of Malaysian financial reporting standards (MFRS) and local tax regulations (SST, Withholding Tax, etc.)
Hands-on experience with accounting systems/ERPs
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail
Strong leadership and communication skills to lead diverse teams and collaborate across departments

Preferred Experience:

Background in FMCG, distribution, retail, or similarly fast-moving, transaction-heavy industries
Exposure to cross-border accounting, multi-entity consolidations, and regional operations
Experience supporting financial audits, tax investigations, or system upgrades.

Pay: RM5,000.00 - RM7,000.00 per month
