Job Purpose

This is an individual contributor role based in Malaysia and the individual will be the Legal function lead for our True Money business. This role will entail advising the business and seeing through our day-to-day business operations as well as support the Headquarter on various regional projects .



Reporting directly to the International Head of Legal based in Thailand with a dotted-line report to the Country Managing Director, the Head of Legal oversees and manages the Company's Legal Practice within TrueMoney Malaysia, functioning as an independent and objective body that provides legal advisory and overseeing all legal document and corporate registrations as well as provide support to other related functions within the organization. Successful execution is key for performing to support business growth, mitigate the legal risk and achieve long term business goals

What you will do (Responsibilities)

• Manage and maintain the Company's legal practice to HQ's standards.
• Review, draft, and negotiate all kinds of contract and legal documents relating to the Company's business, which include, but not limited to, e-money, digital wallet, remittance, and digital lending, and related legal issues such as corporate registration, employment, intellectual property, and data privacy.
• Provide comprehensive and practical legal advice and solutions to relevant functions.
• Create legal risks awareness to relevant functions and, where necessary, review, educate and give advice to the practice of said functions to ensure legal standards are met.
• Efficiently coordinate and build trust with all stakeholders (local, regional team, relevant functions, vendor), as well as liaison with external counsels.
• Report to and assist the International Head of Legal of all local and HQ on strategic deals and projects.

• Bachelor's degree or higher in law (preferably overseas post-graduate education but not necessary).
• At least 7 years' experience - preferably with law-firm experience - with exposure to e-commerce or FinTech industries.
• Knowledge of financial services, e-money business, data privacy and their relevant regulatory and legal requirements is a plus.
• Managerial experience and/or regional exposure is also a plus.
• Have a win-win legal mindset and "can do" attitude while able to adequately protect the Company's interest.
• Able to communicate complex legal and regulatory issues to employees and stakeholders at every level. Have an excellent command of written and spoken English and communication skills.
• Be able to act under pressure and in a multi-tasking environment
• Determined, punctual, and result-oriented to complete tasks and achieve goals.
• Demonstrated interests in others, worked effectively as a team.
