An exciting Head of Legal job has just become available at one of the leading FMCG companies based in Kuala Lumpur. About the Head of Legal Role:
In this critical role, you will be responsible for rendering legal advice and/or support on company\xe2\x80\x99s business activities, ensuring proper compliance of laws/legislations as well as monitoring and managing any legal risks to protect the best interests of the company. Key Responsibilities:

• Engaging and/or working collaboratively with all functions across the entities by providing high-quality legal service to ensure all internal and external (if any) approvals are secured promptly, with the regional office to develop training programmes, precedents, guidance notes and updates for commercial management and other employees as well as with the compliance team to ensure compliance with anti-corruption, anti-money laundering and other relevant legislations as well as all company\xe2\x80\x99s policies, procedures and all relevant local laws
• Preparing, drafting, negotiating, advising and/or vetting agreements and legal documents, e.g., employment, IT, and sales contracts, etc.
• Monitoring, overseeing, and assisting on any legal obstacles as well as developing and/or drafting arguments in defending the company\xe2\x80\x99s interests and advocating certain corporate positions
• Providing advice on a wide range of matters which include but not limited to business operations within the region, e.g., corporate governance, leases, contracts, industrial relations, and labour matters, emerging products\xe2\x80\x99 matters and regulatory affairs, on business projects or initiatives for the APAC markets, developing and/or rolling out legal functional initiatives, e.g., training and conferences
• Building strong working relationships with other offices to build strong business understanding/needs and strategic plans to provide valued as well as strategic advice

To succeed in this role, you will need to have the appropriate level of maturity and the ability to work effectively and co-operatively with multiple stakeholders as well as to mitigate any legal/commercial risks. Key Requirements:

• Bachelor of Law (LL.B) with at least 12 - 15 years of PQE
• Experience in drafting and reviewing general commercial contracts, strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills, experience in dealing with government and regulatory authorities, working knowledge of commercial law, company law and competition law, effective negotiation skills and the ability to apply knowledge of legal drafting to produce standard business critical
• Awareness of intellectual property principles (e.g. trademarks, copyright, etc.), an awareness of legal and commercial risks and the ability to establish means for managing such risks consistent with business objectives, sound judgement when balancing legal risks against the business benefits
• Dynamic, proactive, and flexible and able to interact confidently with members of the organisation at different levels
