About WorldFishWorldFish is a leading international research organization working to transform aquatic food systems to reduce hunger, malnutrition, and poverty. It collaborates with international, regional, and national partners to co-develop and deliver scientific innovations, evidence for policy, and knowledge to enable equitable and inclusive impact for millions who depend on fish for their livelihoods. As a member of CGIAR, WorldFish contributes to building a food- and nutrition-secure future and restoring natural resources. Headquartered in Penang, Malaysia, with country offices across Africa, Asia, and the Pacific, WorldFish strives to create resilient and inclusive food systems for shared prosperity. For more information, visit:About the RoleAquatic food consumption, especially fish consumption, plays a vital role in addressing malnutrition among vulnerable populations, including children and women of reproductive age, across Sub-Saharan Africa (SSA). Despite this, there is a lack of information regarding the consumption of aquatic foods and their contributions to dietary diversity and nutrient adequacy among specific vulnerable groups. Obtaining such information is essential to continue positioning aquatic foods as acceptable, accessible, and sustainable sources of protein and micronutrients, particularly in the global south. Moreover, conducting such analyses will strengthen advocacy efforts for the inclusion of aquatic foods in policy, planning, and investment decisions at national and regional levels. WorldFish is seeking an intern to assist in conducting a study that investigates the role of fish consumption in the diets of adolescent girls in Morogoro, Tanzania. This study aims to fill the gap in knowledge regarding aquatic food consumption patterns among this specific demographic group. Additionally, the study will synthesize findings to explore the implications of fish consumption on sustainable and resilient aquatic food systems. It will also identify opportunities for enhancing food and nutrition security, promoting gender equity, and fostering sustainable livelihoods in the region.Scope of WorkThe scope of the work will encompass data cleaning, data analysis, and manuscript preparation and submission, conducted in collaboration with the project team. Over a 6-month period, the research intern will work with WorldFish\xe2\x80\x99s senior scientist on nutrition and public health, as well as Sokoine University of Agriculture, Tanzania, to contribute to the following evidence-based analyses and outputs:
