Job Description


WorldFish is involved in the project \xe2\x80\x9cDevelopment of Bighead Catfish (Clarias Macrocephalus) Culture for Sustainable Aquaculture in Cambodia\xe2\x80\x9d, funded by Fish Innovation Lab (USAID). Other members of the project include Royal University of Agriculture, Phnom Penh, Cambodia, and the Sustainable Intensification Innovation Lab, Kansas State University (KSU), USA.
The bighead catfish Clarias macrocephalus is one of the favorite fish species eaten in Cambodians in particular and Asia in general. However, few information exists on its commercial culture. WorldFish would like to hire an intern who will review the existing information on bighead catfish and develop a farming protocol for the commercial production of bighead catfish in Asia. The successful candidate will:

  • Conduct a thorough systematic literature review on bighead catfish biology and culture.
  • Conduct a thorough systematic literature review on bighead catfish farming in Asia.
  • Write a scientific review manuscript presenting the existing information for bighead catfish farming.
  • Write a technical better management practice guide for the farming to bighead catfish.
  • Contribute to the organization and present at a workshop on bighead catfish farming.
Requirements This opportunity will be suitable for you if you have the below skills and qualifications:
  • The candidate either will have obtained or currently working towards obtaining a MSc or PhD in Aquaculture or related area.
  • Experience in conducting scientific literature review in agriculture or aquaculture.
  • Familiar with systematic review methods.
  • Experience with meta-analysis methods.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Demonstrate record of inter-disciplinary, partnership building, and the desire to work in a collaborative environment.
  • Shows good self-initiative & able to work independently.

Location and Duration
The interns will be based at WorldFish Headquarters, in Penang, Malaysia. The successful candidate should be available to commence the internship as soon as possible for a duration of 03months. This position is open only to national applicants. Interviews are expected to be held in May 2023 and only shortlisted candidates will be notified and expected to attend the interview.
