The IT Support (Medical) is responsible for providing technical support, maintenance, and troubleshooting for all hospital information systems, medical devices integration systems, and network infrastructure. This role ensures that all IT systems supporting clinical operations run efficiently and securely to support patient care and hospital workflows.
Key Responsibilities
1. Technical Support & Maintenance
Provide on-site and remote technical support for end-users, including doctors, nurses, and administrative staff.
Install, configure, and troubleshoot hardware such as PCs, printers, barcode scanners, and medical workstations.
Support and maintain hospital information systems (HIS), Laboratory Information Systems (LIS), PACS/RIS, and EMR systems.
Respond promptly to IT-related incidents, ensuring minimal downtime in critical medical areas such as ICU, OT, and Emergency.
2. Medical Device & System Integration
Assist in the setup and configuration of networked medical equipment (e.g., ventilators, patient monitors, ECG machines).
Support integration of medical devices with central data storage systems or EMR platforms.
Work closely with biomedical engineering and vendor teams to troubleshoot connectivity or data interface issues.
Monitor device data transmission, ensuring accuracy and reliability of patient data in the hospital system.
3. Network & Infrastructure
Maintain and monitor hospital LAN/WAN networks, Wi-Fi, and secure VLANs used in medical environments.
Support VPN and remote access for authorized medical personnel.
Ensure system security, perform data backups, and maintain antivirus and endpoint protection compliance.
4. User Support & Training
Provide technical assistance and training to medical and administrative users on hospital systems and applications.
Create documentation, user guides, and conduct refresher training for new system updates.
Escalate unresolved issues to higher-level IT or vendor support as needed.
5. System Administration & Reporting
Manage user accounts, access permissions, and system logs following hospital IT policy.
Prepare periodic reports on system uptime, incident response, and preventive maintenance activities.
Support IT audits and ensure compliance with healthcare data security regulations (e.g., HIPAA-equivalent standards).
Qualifications
Diploma / Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field.
1-3 years of experience in IT support; healthcare or hospital environment preferred.
Knowledge of hospital systems (HIS, EMR, PACS/RIS) and basic networking principles (TCP/IP, VLANs, etc.).
Understanding of medical equipment data communication protocols (HL7, DICOM, etc.) is an added advantage.
Strong troubleshooting skills and ability to work in critical environments like ICU or Operating Theatre.
Good communication skills and ability to collaborate with clinical staff and vendors.
Additional Preferred Skills
Experience with database systems (SQL Server, MySQL).
Familiarity with server virtualization (VMware/Hyper-V).
Knowledge of cybersecurity and data privacy in healthcare.
Willingness to work on shifts or on-call support for hospital operations.
