Job Description


Job Summary: The Journal Managing Executive will be responsible for assisting the IJBEL team, BE Sarawak and the appointed marketing agency in developing and implementing effective marketing and promotional strategies for our journal, as well as overseeing project management tasks related to the journal publication and production. The ideal candidate will have strong communication skills, be highly organized, and have a deep understanding of the academic publishing industry. Key Responsibilities: Work closely with the Editor-in-Chief to oversee the production of the IJBEL Journal Leading the editorial team in the production of all annual issues Supervision of editorial team (including the Associate Editors): assigning articles, monitoring the review process, overseeing publication schedules Making decisions, in collaboration with the editorial team, on submissions Point of contact between peer reviewers, editorial team, and authors during the publication process Oversees the daily activities of the journal Prepare IJBEL management meetings Assist in preparing and organizing IJBEL Advisory Board Meetings Develop and implement marketing and promotional strategies to increase journal visibility, subscriptions, and impact factor Coordinate with the editorial team to ensure timely publication of high-quality content Oversee the production process, ensuring that all articles are formatted and prepared for publication on schedule Maintain relationships with key stakeholders such as authors, reviewers, and editorial board members Develop and maintain a database of relevant contacts for marketing and promotional purposes Track and analyze metrics related to journal performance, such as article downloads, social media engagement, and citation rates Manage the journal\'s website and social media accounts, ensuring that they are up-to-date and engaging Attend conferences and other relevant events to promote the journal and network with potential authors and reviewers Collaborate with external vendors such as printers and graphic designers as needed Manage a team of marketing and production staff, providing guidance and feedback as needed Prepare regular reports for senior management on the journal\'s performance and progress towards goals Manage the annual project budget and administer it with the support of the editorial secretary the financial affairs. Qualifications: Bachelor\'s degree in marketing, communication, or a related field At least 1 year of experience in academic publishing, with a focus on marketing and promotion Strong project management skills, with experience overseeing complex projects with multiple stakeholders Excellent written and verbal communication skills Experience managing staff and working collaboratively with cross-functional teams Demonstrated ability to analyze and interpret data related to marketing and promotional performance Familiarity with digital marketing tools and platforms, including social media and email marketing Knowledge of academic publishing trends and best practices Ability to work independently and take the initiative to solve problems and implement improvement
