Key Responsibilities:
Lab Preparation and Support:
1.Assist in setting up and preparing laboratory experiments, including gathering materials, setting up equipment, and ensuring the availability of necessary tools.
2.Ensure that all laboratory spaces are equipped with the required chemicals, equipment, and materials for upcoming lessons or experiments.
3.Assist teachers in demonstrating lab experiments to students, providing explanations, and answering questions where appropriate.
Safety and Compliance:
1.Ensure all safety protocols are followed and that the lab environment remains safe and organized at all times.
2.Maintain and enforce safety standards related to the use of chemicals, equipment, and materials in the lab.
3.Conduct regular checks to ensure the lab equipment is in proper working condition and that safety equipment, such as goggles, gloves, and first-aid kits, are available and functioning.
Equipment Maintenance:
1.Regularly clean, maintain, and repair lab equipment to ensure it is in safe working condition.
2.Keep track of inventory, including chemicals, materials, and equipment, and notify Purchasing Department when supplies need to be reordered or replaced.
3.Properly store and label chemicals, materials, and other items in accordance with school safety guidelines.
Student Assistance:
1.Assist students during lab sessions by providing guidance on the use of equipment, safety procedures, and the scientific methods involved in experiments.
2.Help troubleshoot problems or issues students encounter during practical activities.
3.Support teachers by monitoring students' activities and ensuring that all students adhere to safety protocols.
Record Keeping and Reporting:
1.Maintain accurate records of supplies, equipment usage, and any issues or incidents that occur within the lab.
2.Assist in preparing materials for upcoming lessons, experiments, or projects, ensuring they align with the curriculum requirements.
3.Report any lab equipment failures, safety incidents, or chemical spills to the department head or administration in a timely manner.
Administrative Assistance:
1.Assist with organizing lab-related paperwork and documentation, including safety sheets, chemical inventories, and student reports.
2.Support the Science Department with administrative tasks as needed, such as filing and organizing materials related to experiments, lessons, or upcoming assessments.
Qualifications:
?Associate's degree or higher in a related field is required.
?Previous experience in a school or laboratory setting is preferred but not required.
?Basic knowledge of laboratory equipment, materials, and safety procedures.
?Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently.
?Ability to follow detailed instructions and work both independently and as part of a team.
?Excellent communication skills and the ability to interact with students, teachers, and staff in a positive and supportive manner.
?Attention to detail, particularly with respect to safety protocols and equipment management.
