Role Purpose

• The responsibilities of the Lead Data Scientist include leading the data science team, coordinating initiatives, and developing analytics models.
• He/She is to establish a data-driven organisation culture in MH and to lead and manage the data science team in applying comprehensive data science knowledge to propose optimal techniques for key business challenges and discover business opportunities.
• The Lead, Data Scientist roles includes being responsible to help the organization leverage on data, to provide strategic direction and insight for management to make informed decisions. They are to work with company leadership to develop a new data science capability for the organisation by imagining products and services that will result in measurable improvements in business performance.

Key Accountabilities

• Lead and oversee the data science team in the design and implementation of the organisation data analytics platform/framework. Oversee and collaborate with all data source owners to develop the overall strategy for an effective collection, data mining framework.
• The lead is also required to manage these data projects and ensuring the team can deliver timely and quality results. Subsequently, he/she will need to work effectively with stakeholders across the company to understand the aims of new and existing projects, discover opportunities to extract value from datasets to provide novel solutions, address specific analytical challenges, and develop a data strategy from a problem statement. They are also required to plan and prioritize these data project accordingly to ensure proper resources optimization.
• Oversee the process of determining data availability, relevance of internal and external data, and strategies for combining these into a single data analytics framework. Following that, work with various data engineering and product development teams to ensure that the best data architecture and data strategy are in place.
• Align data projects with organisational goals and provide data-driven insights to improve management buy-in on new products or projects. Present data findings to management or stakeholders in an effective manner, using either an automated visualisation tool or a clear presentation walk-through.
• Assist the organisation in understanding the principles and logic underpinning the data-science process and be part of the team to drive Data-Driven Culture within the organisation.
• Serve as the custodian of all relatable data (internal, external), ensuring that business decisions are based on accurate data and modern approaches to derive meaningful action from data, such as machine learning techniques, statistical modelling, scenario modelling, and rigorously testing hypotheses against data and real-life trials.
• Ensure the integrity and quality of the data through proper governances.
• Ensure the data science teams data products are of high quality.
• Direct, mentor, and guide the Data Scientist teams professional and technical development, as well as drive continual improvement of the teams agile procedures to meet the organisation evolving needs.

Qualification & Experience

Degree in Computer Sciences, Mathematics or Statistics with 3 years of working experience working in data sciences, data analysis.
