Markets & Securities Services (MSS) Operations comprises approximately 9000 employees globally and is a part of the Global Banking & Markets business. This role falls under MSS Operations - Chief Operating Office - Capability Development (CDT), which is responsible for building business/functional capabilities of MSS Operations through its robust training & development offerings. The team demonstrates strong resilience & agility by catering to various training requests via both classroom & virtual modes.

The Opportunity:

  • The core responsibility of this role will be to assess and cater to the training needs of employees across two product areas Asset Services & Custody within MSS Operations globally. Purpose of this role is to set up the framework, curriculum and learning paths to develop subject matter expertise amongst employees in their specific product areas. Business training includes but not limited to capital markets products, risk, regulations, high level functional/systems knowledge and front to back connect of MSS Operations.
  • The incumbent will work closely with the business leaders/heads and trainers within the Capability Development team to deliver strategic and tactical interventions/learning projects globally. Role holder will report to Lead Learning Practitioner - Business Training, to create solutions encompassing instructor led, virtual, self-paced learning, micro learning, internal and external certifications and social learning.
  • There are 1500+ staff in Asset Services & Custody product areas globally. It is critical that we have the ability to develop the required business capabilities across all grade levels and businesses and create opportunities for personal and business growth for all our staff. This role will have the responsibility to deliver this, along with helping to ensure any mandatory business training is completed across the site.
  • This is a Hybrid role and requires working from the office thrice a week and will be subject to changes later.
What you\xe2\x80\x99ll do:

Business Training Responsibilities:
  • To act as the primary business training practitioner for the assigned product areas and have overall responsibility for development initiatives. Stakeholders include Functional Heads/Vice Presidents who roll up to the Executive Committee (ExCo)
  • Analysing business requirement, evaluating training need, target audience, building / sourcing solutions, planning and executing appropriate learning interventions. Speed to delivery and effectiveness of solutions in solving problem statements will be key performance indicator.
  • Design, Develop and implement business specific learning curriculum as agreed and signed off by senior business stakeholders or ExCo and broadly categorised into 1) New Hire Business Foundation/Induction 2) Monthly Training Calendar \xe2\x80\x93 Based on the training needs of stakeholders organise and manage delivery of monthly business training workshops 3) Other customised training needs as signed off by the ExCo4) Other strategic learning projects/interventions viz. Business Speaker Series, Product Academies, External Certifications
  • To communicate effectively and regularly on progress updates in the business forums and via monthly MIS
  • Effectively utilise Management meetings, Newsletter updates, Connect sessions and other engagement forums to create visibility of CDT\xe2\x80\x99s business training offerings and promote self-paced learning (Global Learning Management System, Degreed and more)
  • For customised training needs of stakeholders also look at vendor capabilities and engage with them to design and develop relevant curriculum
  • Ensure practices and procedures are adhered to and training materials remain compliant with HSBC and regulatory standards.
  • Regularly updating, modifying, refreshing training content (Including digital) and methodologies based on participant and stakeholder feedback.
  • Uphold operational standards including those for governance, financial control, third party and operational risk, design and inclusion

  • Effectively manages relationships, acts as a central point of contact for all business training needs and maintains open communication channels with all related functions e.g. HR, CDT counterparts, Operations/Heads
  • Represents the team in stakeholder meetings and proactively offers updates and training solutions
  • Timely communication and execution of stakeholder requests

Functional Knowledge & Training Skills
  • Good knowledge and understanding of Asset Services & Custody business across geographies and customer segments. Must have experience in working in a similar role either in the Financial Services Industry
  • Facilitate/Support/Conduct training sessions when required on defined products/functions/services /systems/ and any other training that falls within the remit of Business Training
  • Role holder should have expertise in the area of problem diagnosis, performance consulting, needs based curriculum design, program planning, third party supplier sourcing and vendor management, program delivery and evaluation
  • Should have sound understanding and knowledge of adult learning principles, instruction design for multi-cultural business environment and program facilitation and management skills
  • Ability to engage participants in virtual learning environment.
  • Ability to clearly articulate compelling messages both verbally and through presentations and writing
  • Experience of having developed and leveraged new age training /learning channels such as micro learning, gaming, social media, eLearning etc.
Others
  • Maintains HSBC internal control standards, including timely implementation of internal controls
  • Comply with risk policies and standards and ensure initiatives are in accordance with group standards and policy
  • Monitor the effectiveness of training initiatives, ensuring suitable return on expectation within the business and continually improving policy and processes
  • Proven track record in the fields of Learning & Development with deep expertise in delivery of training programmes
Requirements

What you will need to succeed in the role:

\xc2\xb7 Strong product and industry knowledge with 8-12 years of relevant experience preferably in Investment banking

\xc2\xb7 Strong stakeholder management experience

\xc2\xb7 Proven track record in defining, driving and delivering people focused business training/strategy

\xc2\xb7 Experience in building effective business capabilities globally

\xc2\xb7 Knowledge of local and global training vendors is preferable but not mandatory

\xc2\xb7 Experience in working in a complex matrix driven organisation and demonstrable ability to navigate and influence a diverse set of senior stakeholders

Candidate with less relevant experience or skills may be offered a lower Global Career Band than stated above. Due to the urgent hiring need, candidates with immediate right to work locally and no relocation need will be prioritised.
