The Legal & Compliance Officer is responsible for ensuring all company documents, contracts, and records are properly reviewed, verified, and maintained in compliance with legal, regulatory, and internal requirements. The role involves conducting documentation checks, supporting internal audits, and coordinating with various departments to ensure accurate and up-to-date records. This position plays a key role in strengthening governance practices and maintaining the company's readiness for audits and regulatory reviews.
Responsibilities Overview
Review and verify company documents, contracts, and records to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with legal and internal requirements.
Conduct regular internal checks and documentation audits across departments.
Maintain proper filing systems (physical and digital) for all legal, licensing, and compliance documents.
Monitor validity and renewal timelines for business licenses, permits, and statutory documents.
Identify and rectify missing, outdated, or inconsistent records by coordinating with relevant departments.
Prepare and compile documentation for internal and external audits or compliance reviews.
Assist in reviewing and updating Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to align with governance and regulatory standards.
Assist in reviewing, preparing and managing legal documents, contracts, and agreements.
Liaise with external auditors, consultants, company secretaries, and regulatory bodies on compliance and documentation matters.
Track and report compliance status and progress to management.
Support management in enhancing overall corporate governance and regulatory compliance practices.
Ensure all company documentation and records are properly organized, accurate, and readily available to support any future audit, due diligence, or IPO readiness process.
Prepare progress reports and updates for management on compliance matters and IPO.
Requirements
Bachelor's Degree in Law, Business Administration, Accounting, or a related field.
Minimum 2-3 years of working experience in legal, compliance, or documentation management roles.
Strong understanding of corporate governance, regulatory compliance, and document control procedures.
Able to handle confidential information with integrity and discretion.
Good communication and coordination skills with the ability to liaise effectively across departments.
Experience in manufacturing, mining, or industrial sectors is an advantage.
Familiarity with IPO requirements, Bursa Malaysia requirements, due diligence and corporate documentation preferred.
