About the Role

To conduct legal reviews and provide accurate and comprehensive legal advice to stakeholders, business units and management and to assist the Head of Department with given tasks from time to time.

Roles and Responsibilities:

(1) Review all legal documentation, such as:

Documents relating to marketing and distribution of AIA products including brochures, policy contracts, advertising materials, marketing and advertising strategies for all business units/distribution channels.

Collaboration/ Distribution related agreements for various distribution channels and its partners.

Service and Maintenance Agreements for various services provided by and for AIA.

Any other contractual documents.

(2) Provide legal support and advice on all legal queries, including:

Operations and claims related issues.

Issues referred by BUs.

(3) Assist Head of Department by alternating for meetings/committees/conference calls.

(4) Assist Head of Department by taking lead in engagement with relevant stakeholders in preparing all submissions to the regulator for approvals.

(5) Assist Head of Department to maintain and create awareness to the relevant stakeholders for regulatory changes / developments by preparing the update / communication on such changes / developments.

(6) Handle case management internally as soon as a social media matter is identified and arises including drafting and reviewing relevant internal communication, representing the Company to obtain external legal advise as necessary , providing updates to the media team and other affected departments on legal process and recourse, representing the Company with the HOD in litigation cases, preparing company witnesses, collating relevant evidence/documents from the various internal departments and social media in preparation for instructing solicitors pertaining to new and on-going trials.

Minimum Job Requirements:

Bachelor Degree in LLB.

Minimum 2 or more years of legal experience in a legal firm or in a Corporate Legal department, in advisory and litigation matters. Insurance working experience would be an advantage.

Good understanding of key developments in the legal profession and regulatory developments in the insurance industry.

Good negotiation skills within the context of a multi-cultural environment.

Ability to handle confidential information and material with the highest degree of professional responsibility.

Strong business acumen.

High level of integrity, ownership and accountability of results.
