Job Description


The ideal candidate will be one who is looking to move from practice to in-house or is currently performing in the capacity of Legal Counsel in a Real Estate / Construction firm. The incumbent desired area of practice is Construction Law, Benefit & Resolutions. Focus of this role would also demand one to prepare bespoke contracts.

Responsibilities

  • Render legal advice and support to business functions (project management and construction) in transactions and operations of Lendlease Malaysia entities.
  • Review, draft and negotiate contracts and documentation for all manner of project management and construction projects.
  • Provide legal support to project teams on any CIPAA or other dispute resolution processes.
  • Review legal documents/tenders, identify legal risks and propose suitable mitigation strategies.
  • Provide legal support for mall centre management team, including on tenancy advice and mall management issues.
  • Ensure compliance with regional procedures and policies.
Key Accountabilities
  • Render general legal advice and support to business functions (project management & construction) in transactions and operations of Lendlease Malaysia entities.
  • Review, draft and negotiate contracts and documentation for all manner of project management and construction projects.
  • Provide legal support for mall centre management team, including on tenancy advice and mall management issues.
  • Review legal documents/tenders, identify legal risks and propose suitable mitigation strategies
  • Conduct legal and contracts training as required by the business.
  • Support the initiatives undertaken by the legal department such as contribution to legal training materials; updating legal document templates.
Desired capabilities & Behaviors
  • Possess good commercial acumen and able to provide in depth analysis of legal issues which impacts the business in a clear and concise manner .
  • Possess good leadership and project management capabilities.
  • Good interpersonal skills and ability to build relationships with relevant stakeholders is a must.
  • A strong understanding and proven track-record of working with engineering/construction contracts.
  • Ability to work independently or as a team player and under pressure.
  • Possess excellent written and communication skills.
  • Prior In-house experience with an MNC in engineering and/or construction sector will be an advantage.
  • Familiarity with international and local templates used in engineering construction sector eg. JKR, PAM, FIDIC, would be an advantage.
  • Fluent ability to read and write Malay and English
  • Good interpersonal, problem-solving, technical and analytical skills.
Education & Experience
  • A qualified lawyer from any commonwealth jurisdiction with post qualification experience of at least six years in project management and construction industry with a major law firm or in\xe2\x80\x93house with an MNC .
